ARMY TROOPS RAPIDLY ADVANCING TOWARDS DEIR EZZOR CITY, LIBERATE MORE POINTS (MAPS, VIDEO)

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the National Defense Forces and some units of pro-government Shia militais, supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces, are rapidly advancing in the direction of the ISIS-besieged city of Deir Ezzor.
Government forces have liberated the Nuzayrat Mount, the Adimah Mount and entered  the Nirman Mount area amid clashes with ISIS terrorists.
The SAA, the NDF and their allies are now advancing on ISIS positions from two directions:
  • From the direction of Sukhna to Kobajep;
  • From the direction of the Bishri triangle to Ash Sholah;

The villages of Kobajep and Ash Sholah are the last remaining ISIS-held strong points located at the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor highway. According to local sources, the rest of the ISIS static defenses is located much closer to the city of Deir Ezzor.
Thus, if government forces liberate Kobajep and Ash Sholah and are able to counter ISIS flanking maneuvers, they will be able to reach the city of Deir Ezzor in the near future.
The ANNA News agency released a video showing government operations aglong the highway to Palmyra:

Final showdown against ISIL set in Deir Ezzor: map

BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:05 A.M.) – The mother of all battles against Islamic State (ISIL) is approaching, as several units from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hashd Al-Sha’abi (Iraqi paramilitary) advance on the terrorist group’s Levantine capital in the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
With help from the Russian Air Force, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies have liberated several kilometers of desert terrain over a short period in both the Homs and Deir Ezzor governorates.
As a result of this advance, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies have positions themselves within 16 km of Al-Shoula, which is the last major town located directly west of the Deir Ezzor Governorate’s provincial capital.
Once Al-Shoula is liberated, the Syrian Arab Army will be within 25 km of Deir Ezzor City, marking the first time in years that their forces would be in full control of the Sukhnah-Deir Ezzor Highway.
While lifting the siege on the provincial capital will be an uplifting achievement, it will take a long time before the Syrian Arab Army and their allies can take control of Deir Ezzor City, let alone the terrorist group’s strongholds of Al-Mayadeen and Albukamal.
In the coming weeks, the battle for Deir Ezzor should reach a critical juncture, as both parties engage in some of the most intense fighting we will see this year.
