Uprooted Palestinians are at the heart of the conflict in the M.E Palestinians uprooted by force of arms. Yet faced immense difficulties have survived, kept alive their history and culture, passed keys of family homes in occupied Palestine from one generation to the next.
Angry Moroccans against the butchers of the Palestinian children and those normalizing the savagery in the garb of lucrative military deals on Monday took to the streets in several cities across the country to protest Rabat’s normalization of ties with the Zionist regime and recent military agreements signed between the two sides.
The protesters, including activists and ordinary people, took part in large-scale protests in the cities of Oujda, Berkane, Ben Slimane, Beni-Mellal and Oulad Teima on Monday.
The demonstrators chanted vociferous anti-‘Israel’ slogans, calling for an end to normalization of relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv and voicing their support for the Palestinian cause.
The Moroccan police, however, foiled a similar protest by pro-Palestinian groups in the capital Rabat on Monday, using brute force, according to reports.
The demonstrations protested under the banner of “The Moroccan Front to Support Palestine and against Normalization”, denouncing recent bonhomie between the ‘Israeli’ occupation regime and Morocco.
They also condemned the visit of Benny Gantz, the Zionist war minister, to Morocco and rejected any collaboration with “the enemies of the Palestinian people.”
The pro-Palestine demonstrators said any cooperation with the Tel Aviv regime constitutes a threat to Morocco and the whole region.
Gantz visited Rabat last week, his first known visit to one of the Arab states that normalized ties last year, during which the two sides signed a military agreement and a pact that would see the occupation regime sell drones and weapons to Morocco.
In a statement, Gantz said that the agreement was “very significant and will allow us to exchange ideas, enter joint projects and enable ‘Israeli’ military exports here.”
Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan signed agreements to normalize relations with Tel Aviv in 2020 as part of the so-called ‘Abraham Accords’, brokered by the previous US administration.
The normalization deals sparked widespread protests in these countries, pointing to the overwhelming divide between the rulers and the people, and have also been condemned by all Palestinian political factions, who have termed it a betrayal of their cause.
Monday’s protests coincided with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, an annual day dedicated to expression of solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine.
ليست العودة إلى مفاوضات فيينا جولة استكشافية، ولا محاولة مفتوحة على احتمالات، فالشهور التي مضت منذ توقف التفاوض كانت هي شهور المفاوضات الفعلية، وساحة الاستكشاف الحقيقية، وميدان اختبار الاحتمالات المتعددة، وقبل سنوات عندما قررت واشنطن استئناف المفاوضات في مثل هذه الأيام من عام 2013 ، بعدما توقفت عام 2012، قلنا إن العودة للمفاوضات هي قرار بالتوصل لاتفاق، لأن ما سبق العودة كان اختبارات كافية للبدائل، وأن الحرب على سورية وتحريك الأساطيل نحوها في آب 2013، كانت سقف هذه الاختبارات، وفي كل مرة كان هناك من يعتقد بأن فرص التوصل للاتفاق تتراجع كنا نقول إن بديل الاتفاق هو الاتفاق، واليوم نعيد أن البدائل التي يتحدث عنها الإسرائيليون هي تلك التي حازوا تفويضاً أميركياً باختبارها ولكن سقفها عمليات التخريب التي لحقت بالمنشآت النووية، والاغتيالات التي استهدفت علماء الملف النووي، وراقب الأميركيون نتائجها فوجدوا ان المشروع النووي الإيراني لا يزال يتقدم، علماً أن الإسرائيلي قبض نقداً وسلفاً ثمن ما قام به، سواء بعمليات التطبيع مع الخليج، أو بأموال عربية مولت هذه العمليات، أما الحرب فقد اختبرها الأميركيون في عهد الرئيس السابق دونالد ترامب، سواء يوم أسقطت إيران طائرتهم التجسسية العملاقة فوق الخليج، أو يوم دكت بصواريخها قاعدة عين الأسد، رداً على اغتيال الجنرال قاسم سليماني.

الاختبارات التي يفترض أن تقرر مصير المفاوضات قد جرت، والبدائل التي يمكن أن يلجأون إليها قد تم اللجوء إليها، ولذلك نكرر وبثقة أن بديل الاتفاق هو الاتفاق، وأن شروط إيران للعودة إلى الاتفاق قد تم فرضها في ساحات الاشتباك التي جعلت مسار فيينا بتوقيت طهران خياراً وحيداً أمام الأميركيين، على رغم كثرة كلامهم عن أن الوقت ينفد من أمام خيار التفاوض، وهم يكررون ذلك طوال ستة شهور، ثم يعودون عندما قررت إيران أن العودة صارت مناسبة، فذلك لأن التفاوض يأتي على خلفية بدائل تم اختبارها، أولها كان في لبنان بمحاولة الإنقلاب على حزب الله من بوابة الأزمة الاقتصادية وتفجير الشارع بوجهه، وقد انتهت بنتيجة صفرية، والثانية بمحاولة دعم الحرب على اليمن ودفعها باتجاه الحسم، عبر تشديد الحصار وحملات التجويع، والقصف التدميري الوحشي، ففاجأتهم مأرب بحضورها وتحول الحرب إلى حسم معاكس يقترب، والثالثة بمحاولة تغيير قواعد الاشتباك في فلسطين، ودفع غزة إلى التنازل طلباً للقمة الخبز، فكان سيف القدس، والتدهور في ميزان الردع الإسرائيلي لحساب ميزان ردع معاكس.

بعد الانسحاب من أفغانستان يدرك الأميركيون أنهم خارج سياقات حروب جديدة، وبعد الاتفاق الصيني- الإيراني يدرك الأميركيون أن إيران لم تعد بحاجة حيوية للعودة إلى الاتفاق، بل إن إيران التي قطعت أشواطاً في تطوير برنامجها النووي مستظلة بالانسحاب الأميركي من الاتفاق، فرضت معادلة قوامها أن أميركا خسرت الاتفاق الذي كان يقيد البرنامج النووي الإيراني، ولم تكسب بالمقابل شيئاً في الميادين التي قالت إنها تعترض على عدم تضمينها للاتفاق، وهي البرنامج الصاروخي الإيراني، الذي باتت فروعه منتشرة على ضفاف البحر المتوسط والبحر الأحمر وفوق مياه الخليج، وصولاً لباب المندب، أما الوضع الإقليمي فقد بات حضور قوى المقاومة فيه صاحب اليد العليا في كل ساحات الاشتباك، وكما يقول الروس للأميركيين، لم تعودوا في وضع يهدد إيران بكلفة عدم العودة، بل عليكم أن تقدموا لها حوافز للعودة، ويكفي دليلاً أن إيران ليست راغبة بامتلاك سلاح نووي عودتها للمفاوضات بنية العودة للاتفاق، على رغم بلوغها العتبة النووية.

The head of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Mohamad Raad said, “We smell a coup against the Taif Agreement. This coup aims at reassuring the ‘Israeli’ enemy that the Lebanese people can’t face its aggression, so that it dictates its normalization and authoritarian policies and control even deciding the fate of our gas wealth in our territorial waters, as gas exploration is confined to certain companies of certain countries. Despite all this, we still talk about independence and sovereignty, but we are incapable of building one power facility that supplies Lebanon with power 24/7”.
Raad made the statement during the memorial ceremony held by Hezbollah on the 40th day on the passing of Martyr Muhammad Jamal Tamer.
He added, “Our national currency collapsed because it depends on foreign currency. Tomorrow, our policy will collapse because it also depends on foreign policies. If the Lebanese people want this, it’s up to them, but we are sacrificing our blood and souls to protect those who don’t know where there interest is in this period. Is it required that we commit suicide so that others are satisfied? We are keen to preserve the common living in this country; we want it to rule sovereignly and independently, and that its interests are in accordance with the aspirations, will, and national decision”.
“If anyone thinks that the equation has gone wrong and that the power balance became in the interest of the ‘Israeli’ axis and normalization and wants to turn against the Taif, we tell our people to pay attention to this miscalculation because Lebanon has gotten out of the ‘Israeli’ era and will not return to it; as all the methods of force that were used to twist the arm of the Resistance failed, and the sponsors of strife realized that the Resistance benefits from the national consensus on its role in Lebanon. So, let us not allow a faction of the Lebanese to undermine this consensus… The weapon of the Resistance has become on everyone’s lips, and media outlets have been bought in order to promote this issue,” Raad added.
Regarding the Tayouneh crime, Raad said, “What happened is not just a clash between the people of two areas, it’s rather a designed and planned aggression in order to cause a strife and to push people to fight among themselves and mess up the whole situation, so that the killer gives his credentials to the people who hired and pay him regionally or internationally”.
Raad concluded saying, “From now on and without wasting time and opportunities, let’s figure things out. Don’t let anybody drag you to a new civil war in order to impose on you a settlement with new balances of power, as long as people are open to each other and ready for dialogue, and as long as they appreciate their common interests and have no enemies but one enemy, which is still occupying our land”.
Former White House senior adviser Jared Kushner is seeking investors from the Gulf States for a new firm, according to a report in the New York Times.
The son-in-law of former US president Donald Trump established the Miami-based investment firm Affinity Partners after Trump lost his reelection bid to current president Joe Biden in November of last year.
Kushner has so far struggled to get financial backing from sovereign wealth funds, according to the Friday report, with Qatar and the United Arab Emirates declining. However, Kushner did have success in courting Saudi Arabia and the kingdom’s $450 billion Public Investment Fund, sources told the newspaper, and with negotiations over what could be a sizeable amount of money.
Over the summer it was reported that Kushner will also open an office in the apartheid “Israeli” entity that will promote trade ties between “Israel”, India, the Gulf States and North Africa.
Kushner was one of the architects of the so-called ‘Abraham Accords’ that normalized relations between ‘Israel’ and the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan.
“When former White House officials start cashing in their time served with our government by cozying up to monarchs, it turns the stomach a bit. Is it illegal? No,” Nick Penniman, the head of Issue One, a good-government organization in Washington, told the Times. “Is it swampy and seemingly hypocritical? Yes.”

قبلت إسرائيل بقواعد اللعبة مع حزب الله في لبنان. لا عمليات عسكرية أو حتى أمنية تؤدي إلى سقوط عناصر أو كوادر من الحزب. وقررت، بناء على ذلك، الطلب إلى أجهزتها العملانية، الاستخباراتية والتنفيذية، ابتداع وسائل تتيح لها تحقيق المطلوب من دون ترك أثر. لكنها أعطت نفسها حق القيام بما هو أكثر في ساحات أخرى. لدى العدو وحدة مستقلة تعمل على حزب الله. تطارده في لبنان وخارجه. في كل ساحة، تضع إسرائيل تصوراً خاصاً لمواجهة الحزب. وغالباً، يبرر العدو أعماله بـ«الإجراء الوقائي» لاعتقاد قيادة العدو بأن الحزب يسعى إلى إيقاع الضرر بإسرائيل، إما انتقاماً لعمليات اغتيال أو كرد على رسائل لا يعرف الجمهور الكثير عنها.
في سوريا والعراق ومناطق أخرى، يركز العدو على عمل أكثر مباشرة، لأن الخطر بالنسبة إليه في لبنان، يتعلق بعملية لوجستية – أمنية – عسكرية. بمعنى أدق، يسعى العدو إلى توجيه ضربات مباشرة للحزب في مجال تعزيز قدراته العسكرية ولا سيما الصاروخية منها. والتعديل الذي قبلت به إسرائيل، في سوريا كما في العراق، هو أنها ملزمة بعمليات «نظيفة». أي أن على قواتها تجنب التعرض لعناصر المقاومة أو كوادرها خلال أي عمل أمني أو عسكري. لذلك، يعمد العدو في حالات كثيرة إلى إبلاغ الروس مسبقاً أنه في صدد توجيه ضربة جوية إلى هذا الموقع أو تلك الآلية، ليتولى الروس إبلاغ السوريين أو الإيرانيين، أو حتى حزب الله مباشرة، لتجنّب وقوع خسائر بشرية. وفي حالات أخرى، يوجّه العدو طلقات تحذيرية لدفع عناصر الحزب إلى مغادرة مركز أو عربة قبل ضربها بقليل. ووصل الأمر في بعض الحالات إلى إيجاد وسائل اتصال تقني تتيح له الطلب من عناصر الحزب مغادرة نقطة معيّنة لأنها ستتعرض للضرب.
لكن، في كلا الحالتين، لا يمكن للعدو الوقوف مكتوف الأيدي إزاء ما يسميه «برنامج تعاظم القدرات لدى حزب الله»، كما هي الحال مع قوات الحرس الثوري الإيراني أو فصائل المقاومة العراقية في سوريا أو العراق، لأن لدى العدو برنامجاً آخر اسمه «منع تمركز إيران في المناطق القريبة». والعدو، هنا، يجبر نفسه على خيارات عملانية من النوع الصعب والمعقّد، بما في ذلك القيام بعمليات أمنية بالغة الحساسية خلف خطوط العدو لتوجيه ضربات مباشرة، نوعية أو وهمية. لكنه يقوم بما يريد من خلال إبلاغ إيران وحلفائها في المنطقة بأن إسرائيل لن تقف متفرجة على ما يحصل بالقرب منها.

وإذا كان لدى العدو برنامج عمل يستهدف فقط ضرب المقاومة في لبنان أو سوريا أو العراق، أو حتى إيران، فإنه ينظر بقلق إلى تطورين بارزين في السنوات الأخيرة. الأول يتصل بواقع المقاومة في فلسطين وخصوصاً بعد معركة «سيف القدس» وتطور علاقة المقاومة في فلسطين مع محور المقاومة الذي تقوده إيران ويفعّله حزب الله. والثاني يتعلق بما يجري في اليمن. إذ يتصرف العدو بأن ما يحصل في هذا البلد ليس سوى عملية بناء لقدرات صار مضطراً لأن يضعها في الحسبان، ليس لكونها في يد قوة معادية فقط، بل لكون هذه القوة تعلن جهاراً أنها جزء من معركة تحرير فلسطين. أضف إلى ذلك أن العدو يعرف معنى أن يتحول اليمن قاعدة متماسكة في قلب محور المقاومة. وهو اكتشف، خلال مواجهة «سيف القدس»، أن «أنصار الله» في اليمن، اتخذوا خطوات عملانية وأبدوا استعداداً للدخول في الحرب متى اقتضى الأمر. ورصدت استخبارات العدو اتصالات بين فصائل المقاومة في لبنان وفلسطين وبين «أنصار الله» تضمّنت معطيات يدرك العدو أن فيها ما يؤذيه في ما لو دخل اليمنيون في الحرب. ولذلك، اضطر، للمرة الأولى منذ عقود طويلة، إلى إعادة تفعيل قيادة الجبهة الجنوبية التي أقفلت منذ الاتفاق مع مصر والأردن.
عملياً، ليس بيد العدو اليوم سوى النظر في وسائل محاصرة المقاومة في لبنان وبقية المواقع. صحيح أن جيش الاحتلال لا يتوقف عن التدريب على حرب واسعة تشمل جبهات عدة، لكنه يتصرف بحذر شديد مع الجبهة الشمالية، وهو يعي تماماً أن قدرات المقاومة في لبنان أو سوريا أو حتى العراق ليست من النوع الذي يقارن بما هو موجود في قطاع غزة. كما أن الهشاشة التي ظهرت بها جبهته الداخلية جراء تساقط صواريخ المقاومة الفلسطينية في أيار الماضي، تشي بمخاطر لا قدرة له على ضبط نتائجها ولا حدودها، فكيف وهو مضطر لأن يتصرف على قاعدة أن المقاومة في لبنان يمكنها ليس فقط إطلاق الصواريخ بطرق مختلفة، بل استخدام أنواع من الأسلحة الفتاكة على أكثر من صعيد، إضافة إلى احتمال قيام المقاومة بعمل هجومي يستهدف السيطرة على مناطق في الجليل الأعلى، وهو ما لم يكن يعتقد بأنه سيأتي يوم يضطر للتعامل مع هذا الأمر كاحتمال حقيقي، وهذا ما يوجب على العدو اللجوء إلى وسائل أخرى في مواجهة المقاومة في قلب لبنان.
في هذا السياق، ينبغي النظر إلى جانب من الأزمة اللبنانية. صحيح أن المشكلة هنا لا تتعلق حصراً بالمساعي الإسرائيلية، وأن اللبنانيين عموماً، وبينهم حلفاء للمقاومة، يتحملون مسؤولية الخراب الداخلي. لكن ما يجب عدم التغافل عنه، ولو رفض لبنانيون ذلك، هو أن سعي مجموعات لبنانية، بدعم من دول عربية وجهات غربية، لأن يكون ملف المقاومة هو عنوان المواجهة الداخلية، لا يمكن عزله عن المشروع الإسرائيلي. ولا ضير هنا من اتهام هذه المجموعات بأنها تقوم بعمل يخدم فعلياً العدو، ويجب قول هذا الكلام صراحة حتى ولو اعتبره البعض اتهاماً له بالخيانة، علماً أن «لاجئي الإمارات» من اللبنانيين توقفوا عن الخداع والمداراة وصاروا يتحدثون علناً عن «خطأ عدم اللحاق بركب السلام مع إسرائيل».
وفق هذا المنطق، يجب النظر إلى المرحلة الجديدة من المواجهة الداخلية القائمة، سواء في ما خص عمل الحكومات أو الانتخابات النيابية أو السياسات الاقتصادية والمالية، وصولاً إلى العلاقات الخارجية للبنان. والجديد هنا، أنه مثلما لا يهتم الأميركيون والغربيون وبعض العرب بالعمل في وضح النهار ضد المقاومة، مستفيدين من وجود مرتزقة لبنانيين يطلقون على أنفسهم ألقاباً تحت مسمى السياديين، فإن على هؤلاء الأخذ في الاعتبار أن المقاومة باتت مضطرة للتشهير بهم علناً، وأن هذا التشهير لا يمكن وضعه في خانة التحضير لعمل أكبر، لكنه إجراء بديهي وعادي إزاء من يعمل على تهيئة المناخ لحروب أهلية جديدة في لبنان. ومثلما تتمسك المقاومة بخيارها تحمل الضغوط وعدم الانجرار إلى حرب أهلية، فهي تتمسك بحقها في الدفاع عن نفسها في مواجهة هذه المجموعات ومشغّليها بمعزل عن طبيعتها وعناوينها وحجمها وطريقة عملها.
لبنان اليوم مقبل على مستوى جديد من المواجهة. وإذا كان بيننا من يستعد لمغامرات متجاهلاً حقائق التاريخ، فإن بيننا أيضاً من يهتم للحفاظ على مكتسبات معارك التحرير في الجنوب وسوريا وحتى الداخل. وهذا الاهتمام بات يوجب علينا، في لحظة الحسم، الاستعداد للمنازلة الكبرى مع هؤلاء، بقسوة لا تقودنا حتماً إلى المواجهة التي يريدون. إنها لعبة تتطلب، إلى جانب الهدوء والصبر، الكثير من الحكمة والذكاء والفعالية، وهي عناصر خبرناها مرات ومرات عند المقاومة وجمهورها خلال أربعة عقود، ولا نزال.

II. The Mutilated Arab-Persian History

At this stage of the Zionist colonial process, in its advance to put an end to the original Palestinian people, there are two aspects that I want to point out in this article: the return to armed struggle as an alternative for national liberation and the end of “Israel’s” colonial regime.
After the imposition of “Israel’s” colonial regime in Palestine from Europe, which was seen and felt like an impossible, absurd, nonsensical, and ridiculous project from the point of view of logic; today, from logic, the same will be said when it is considered that the Arab-Persian and Kurdish world and culture can be plundered, falsified… modalities of dispossession for its disappearance.
It could be said that there will be no free and peaceful Arab-Persian world as long as the Israeli colonial Euro-Zionist regime exists. But that is not the point, the point is that the Arab-Persian world is threatened to disappear.
Since the Oslo accords, fewer Palestinians are talking about the liberation of Palestine, about the independence of historic Palestine. Fewer Palestinians are expressing their struggle against the colonial yoke and anachronism of “Israel”. And especially the Palestinians in the Diaspora, because Western repression is so strong. The Palestinians have submitted and are dragging themselves to the Western Euro-Zionist agenda by only debating on one or two states. While colonialism has it clear and is moving to put an end to the original Palestinian people.
There are honest Western souls devoted to solidarity with the Palestinian people, sincere beings, but I am opposed to them, I’m opposed to the ones who demand the right for “Israel” to exist in our historical Palestine. The concept of peace does not come from the comfort, fear, functionalism, immediacy, and naivety of a trade unionist, feminist, academic, intellectual, politician, student, artist, activist. There is implicit colonialism there, even if they act in good faith.
Every native people has the dignified right to abolish their respective colonizer and that is always a contribution to humanity.
This would be an artificial and dead struggle, if it is not fought from the raison d’être of the Palestinian cause, from the essence and root of the Palestinian cause, that is, the struggle of a native people against a colonial yoke, today, in the 21st century.
As anti-Zionists, we must be a philosophical and moral challenge to the obscurantism of the academic-intellectual priesthood.
I find it degrading, contrary to the spirit of the human thinking verb, to exclude, ban, censor, repress, and silence from the world of debate the end of “Israel’s” colonial regime in Palestine, on the pretext that we must think about peace. One has to be realistic, especially because of the fear of not being accused of anti-Semitism. Everyone has the right to express his or her belief that this colonial regime should exist in Palestine. What should not be accepted is that this point should be banned from the universe of debate.
In the liberation of the Palestinian people against the colonial yoke and anachronism of “Israel”, it is intrinsic to never, ever expel the so-called Israeli, otherwise, it would be a philosophical and moral betrayal. The figure known as an Israeli would become a Palestinian citizen. That is what the statutes of the extinct League of Nations demanded, where thousands of thousands of Jews applied.
If you tell me that this is impossible and that I must be realistic, I say: don’t be creative people with complex and articulate cowards. Let us be able to position justice, to transcend intellectuality. Due to the strong Algerian opposition, “Israel”‘s accession is almost impossible.
On October 16th, 2021, the Executive Council of the African Union announced the postponement of its decision on approving or rejecting the “observer status” of “Israel” in the Union to the next African summit scheduled for February 2022. This decision is in fact the culmination of a great effort made by Algeria politically and diplomatically over the course of three months among the African countries to oppose and confront the sudden decision taken by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, to accept the application of “Israel” to join the African Union as an observer member, and the subsequent presentation by the Israeli ambassador to Ethiopia (the headquarters country) of his credentials to the Union on the 22nd of June 2021.
From the first day of the decision of Moussa Faki, a French-educated former Chadian prime minister, Algeria went into something like a state of emergency, and a decision was taken at the highest levels to launch a comprehensive diplomatic campaign and to use all of Algeria’s weight and political capabilities to confront Faki’s personal decision. The Algerian Foreign Ministry announced its total rejection of “Israel’s” admission to the ranks of the African Union and said that the Chairperson of the Commission had not consulted the member states in this regard.
Algeria began to move and succeeded in persuading six Arab African countries (not including Morocco and Sudan, who are involved in a process of normalization), namely Tunisia, Egypt, Mauritania, Djibouti, Libya, and the Comoros Islands to announce their opposition to Faki’s decision in a statement on August 3rd. Moussa Faki quickly felt that he is being targeted by the pressures of Algerian diplomacy, represented by Minister Ramtan Lamamra, so he issued an official statement on August 6th in which he responded to Algeria and affirmed that his decision to accept “Israel” as an observer member is indeed within his authorities.
The Algerian campaign against “Israel” in Africa did not stop (South Africa, who had reservations about Moussa Faki’s decision from the first day, cooperated with it), and succeeded in persuading Sudan to join the countries opposing Faki’s decision in a statement issued by the Sudanese Foreign Ministry on October 15th. And in the next day, Algeria succeeded in leading a group of 24 African countries who also announced their objection to Faki, which prompted the Executive Council to finally decide to postpone the decision on accepting the membership of “Israel” until the next summit. This is an important diplomatic victory for Algeria because it actually means, almost certainly, the failure of the project of “Israel”‘s accession, as approving it in the African summit; due to the strong Algerian opposition, “Israel”‘s accession is almost impossible.
This Algerian activity and efficiency are due, in part, to its desire to compensate for the years of relative inaction that characterized the Algerian diplomacy during the rule of the ailing former president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, which allowed “Israel” to penetrate into African circles that it did not reach before. Benjamin Netanyahu intensified contacts with West African and sub-Saharan countries in 2016 and hosted an agricultural conference in “Israel” in which 15 countries participated. He also made several visits to the region and was feeling so triumphant to the extent that he publically said, during his visit to Liberia “Israel is returning strongly to Africa!”. “Israel” succeeded in establishing diplomatic relations with a record number of African countries (46 countries out of 55 members of the African Union).
Historically speaking, the late Gamal Abdel Nasser took charge, in the fifties and sixties of the last century, of combating the Israeli penetration into the African continent. And he took advantage of Egypt’s weight at the time and its relations with the national liberation movements in the continent to besiege the Israeli presence and keep it within minimum limits (most notably with the apartheid racist regime in South Africa). In the aftermath of the October 1973 war, “Israel” was having diplomatic relations with only four African countries. But Sadat’s coup in Egypt and the Camp David Accords opened the African doors to “Israel” once again. The banner of combating Israeli expansion in Africa then passed to Colonel Gaddafi in Libya, who paid great attention to the countries of the continent and built a network of close relations with them and provided them with financial support and contributed to a large extent in keeping most African countries, especially its western and sub-Saharan countries, out of Israeli influence until he was killed in 2011.
The growing Moroccan-Israeli relations are one of the reasons for this Algerian activity at the African level. Algeria no longer considers “Israel” as a Pan-Arab danger, but has become a direct threat to it on its borders. When “Israel” and Morocco crowned decades of their unofficial relations by announcing the establishment of full diplomatic relations in December 2020, Algerian President Abdelmajid Tabboun said, “We notice a kind of rush towards normalization. We will not participate in it or bless it. The Palestinian Cause is sacred to us here in Algeria, and it is the mother of all causes”. His Prime Minister Abdelaziz Jerad followed with a strong statement in which he said that “Algeria is being targeted” and that there is a foreign will for Zionism to reach Algeria’s borders.
That is, Algeria’s leadership has come to consider “Israel’s” relations and activities in neighboring Morocco as a direct security and strategic threat, which has caused great tension in the Algerian view of the Moroccan ruling regime. The Algerian newspaper “Al-Shorouk” published an article titled “For these reasons, the Zionist entity targets Algeria.” And what made matters worse was the intelligence information that “Israel” had helped Morocco establish a military base near the Algerian border. Things crossed its red lines when Algeria felt that “Israel”, through Morocco, was trying to interfere with the internal Algerian affairs. And recently, Algerian television announced that the separatist “MAK” movement has ties to “Israel” and Morocco and that those involved in it were in contact with Israeli parties under the cover of “civil society organizations.” In the end, Algeria decided to cut diplomatic relations with Morocco last August.
“Israel”, in turn, responded to Algeria, accusing it of being part of an axis that includes Iran. Its foreign minister, Meir Lapid, from Casablanca, expressed concerns “about Algeria’s role in the region, its rapprochement with Iran, and the campaign it led against Israel’s admission as an observer member of the African Union”.
Today we are witnessing a great Algerian rise to combat and thwart the Zionist expansion in Africa. This is not surprising for a country with a glorious history of revolution and resistance to colonialism, who, since the days of its great revolution sixty years ago, has been associated with Palestine, its revolution, and its cause, and considered it the twin of its soul and struggle, and is still in the same position.
