Imam Khamenei Addresses Iranians During Friday Prayers

19/06/2009 Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei leads Friday Prayers in Tehran and will address the nation amid tension between supporters of President Ahmadinejad and pro-Mir Hussein Mosavi demonstrators.

Mosavi’s supporters have been protesting the defeat in presidential elections despite a decision to recount ballots in contested areas. The Guardian Council has also invited Ahmadinejad and the other three defeated presidential candidates for a meeting Saturday. For its part the Assembly of Experts held rioters responsible for chaos in Tehran and described them as enemies of Iranian unity.

Demonstrations in Tehran have often turned into riots, burning tires and cars. Seven rioters were killed this week after they attacked a military post in Tehran in a bid to seize arms, according to Iranian media.

Meanwhile state television reported that a plot with "extensive ties" to unnamed foreign interests had been uncovered to carry out bombings in Tehran on election day.

How is it that a religious leader can threaten the people he rules over? No truly spiritual person could ever do such a thing.

He is a fraud and he is no better than the most corrupt dictators.
