OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Jewish settlers on Sunday stormed the Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem and offered rituals while roaming the holy site's plazas, the Aqsa foundation for endowment and heritage said.

The foundation in a statement said that Israeli occupation police escorted the settlers while performing their Talmudic rituals.

It described the storming today as "unprecedented" since no Jewish groups are allowed to enter the Aqsa during the holy month of Ramadan.

The foundation charged that the step was an escalation on the part of the "Zionist regime", and called on Palestinians of the 1948 occupied Palestine and Jerusalem to intensify their presence in the holy site.

Salah calls for popular chains to protect the Aqsa Mosque

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The Well-known Muslim leader in the 1948-occupied Palestinian land Sheikh Raed Salah has called on the Palestinian people to form popular chains to protect the Aqsa Mosque, asserting that those chains would be stronger than the Arab League and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in protecting the Mosque.

"We indeed possess and form real power through our gathering, and what is indeed needed was to sit-in by the thousands inside the Aqsa Mosque for our power to be stronger than the force of the Arab League and the OIC in protecting and supporting the Aqsa Mosque", affirmed Salah during a forum in Jerusalem Thursday.

But although he criticized the Arab and Muslim passive reaction towards the Israeli violations against the city, Salah didn’t excuse any Arab or Muslim country of their religious duties towards the holy city.

"I don’t know what to say for the [unexplainable] Arab and Muslim silence [towards the Israeli desecrations inside the city], I couldn’t also understand how those violations happened while they (Arabs and Muslims) keep silent, and I couldn’t comprehend the stand of any Arab and Muslim country that maintains diplomatic and commercial ties with the Zionist occupation although it continues harming the Aqsa", underscored Salah.

"Where is the supporting Arab and the Muslim voice not only the protesting voice? And where are the Arab and Muslim sacrifices to preserve the identity and value of the sacred Jerusalem which is more precious and more valuable than all our positions?" stressed Salah.

"Whoever indeed wants to protect the Aqsa Mosque should protect the Palestinian people of Jerusalem", underlined Salah, urging all concerned agencies to form a religious and national body in Jerusalem to confront the Israeli aggressions in the city.

He also reminded Arab and Muslim nations that the burning of the Aqsa Mosque (at the hand of a fanatic Jewish settler) in 1969 was indeed burning of the Arab and Muslim dignity, and that such dignity wouldn’t be retrieved unless the occupation is removed.

"The burning of the Aqsa Mosque was indeed painful and catastrophic, but what is more dangerous than that was the continuation of the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem", Salah emphasized.

IOF tightens the noose on occupied Jerusalem on first day of Ramadan

[ 22/08/2009 - 11:04 AM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Saturday deployed large numbers of policemen and security forces at the entrances of the Old City of Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque, local sources said.

They added that the IOA police installed iron barricades to search citizens and to scrutinize their IDs inside the city similar to the procedure on the main entrances to Jerusalem.

Witnesses reported that Israeli occupation forces (IOF) intensified presence on roadblocks leading to Jerusalem in a bid to prevent West Bankers from heading to the Aqsa Mosque on the first day of Ramadan.

Thousands of Palestinians had defied the IOA measures and offered the night prayers in the Aqsa on Friday night.

Eyewitnesses said that IOF soldiers tried to block entry of Palestinians less than 50 years old but many of them succeeded in circumventing the barricades to pray in the holy site.
