GAZA, (PIC)-- John Ging, the director of UNRWA operations in the Gaza Strip, has called for opening all Gaza crossings before winter, describing it as the first and foremost political step that should be done to end the suffering of the Strip and ending its siege.

Ging said on Monday that the advent of the winter season without opening crossings and lifting the siege would double the tragedy of Gaza inhabitants, asking in particular for the entry of construction material such as cement, glass and others to rebuild what was destroyed in the war on Gaza and to maintain the homes that were partially destroyed.

The UNRWA official declared that his Agency is providing 3,100 job opportunities for a period of six months for workers in the private sector in cooperation with local agencies.

Ging pointed out that 120,000 job opportunities could be provided and not only temporary jobs in the event crossings were opened.

Billions of dollars are waiting for reconstruction of Gaza but the only obstacle is the closure of crossings, he said, adding that reconstruction would provide hundreds of thousands of job opportunities.
