SUSSEX UNIVERSITY STUDENT UNION TO BOYCOTT ISRAELI GOODS!

Link
This week the University of Sussex Students Union held a referendum with the title "Should the University of Sussex Student's Union Boycott Israeli goods?"

Voting took place on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th with the campaign running all week.

The votes were counted today, and it was good news! I received this email from one of the societies helping to organize the referendum:

Sussex University Students Union has voted to boycott Israeli goods.

This is a historic development as we are the first student union to implement a boycott of Israeli goods in the UK.

We hope that other student unions also argue for boycotts through referendums or at their AGM.

We have already received messages of thanks and solidarity from the West Bank.

Congratulate everybody who was involved in the campaign and who supported it.

This is a landmark victory in the Free Palestine movement, but there is a long way to go. We will continue our struggle until Palestine is free.

In solidarity,
Sussex Stop the War Coalition

If you are reading this as a student, I urge you to follow us in the boycott of Israeli goods at your University! I will post more on the topic when I know more :)
