Hamas: Abbas's pledge indicates his hostile position against Palestinian rights

GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas has charged that Mahmoud Abbas's pledge to foil any attempt to ignite a fresh intifada against Israeli occupation is the biggest proof of his hostile position against Palestinian rights and resistance.

Fawzi Barhoum, Hamas's spokesman, said in a press release on Wednesday that it was shameful that such a statement is voiced at a time the Israeli occupation authority is escalating its judaization of Jerusalem and its threats against the Palestinian people and holy shrines.

The spokesman said that Abbas, whose term as PA chief expired last January, had put himself in the same trench with the "Zionist enemy" away from the Palestinian people.

It is strange that Abbas vowed to suppress any intifada while he and Fatah leaders such as Azzam Al-Ahmed are calling for an uprising against Hamas in Gaza, Barhoum underlined.

Abbas bragged about his war against resistance in the West Bank during an interview with the American Wall Street Journal published on Tuesday and said that he would never allow the outbreak of a new intifada against occupation.

Meanwhile, Hizbutarhrir in Palestine has lashed out at Abbas's militias in the West Bank for kidnapping one of its leaders.

The party said in a statement on Wednesday that the step reflected the PA in Ramallah's dismay at the party's policy of revealing schemes aimed at dissolving the Palestine cause and corrupting its people.

Abbas's militias released Dr. Maher Al-Jabari, member of the party's information office, nine hours after his abduction but the party said that Jabari was beaten and shot at.
