from Leeds to Palestine
Internal strife within Hamas over a deal for a prisoner swap with Israel has led to the resignation of Mahmoud A-Zahar, a senior member of the negotiating team...Obviously, the timing is significant because of the past weeks events. There have always been disagreements within Hamas, lively debate and the concept of Shura (consultation) is what has characterised the movement and is vital in making decisions.
Hamas, however, have never let internal disagreements spill over into the public (as opposed to Fatah, which resolves internal feuds with gunfire). Again, we should take this report with a pinch of salt and not fall into the Israeli media's trap.
