NAZARETH, (PIC)-- The Australian government has requested visas for three police investigators to visit Israel to probe the use of forged Australian passports in the assassination of Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh, one of Hamas's commanders, in Dubai.
The Hebrew radio reported on Monday that the Australian foreign ministry asked the Israeli embassy for the visit permits, noting that the embassy responded positively to the request.
It said that the investigators are expected to arrive within a week.
British policemen had already arrived in Israel to investigate the use of British passports in the assassination crime.
Meanwhile, an Israeli journalist revealed in an article published in Israel Hayom on Monday that Australia had expelled an Israeli diplomat back in 2004 after the Israeli foreign intelligence known as the Mossad used forged Australian passports in one of its operations.
The journalist severely criticized his government for using passports of "friendly countries" in Mossad operations.
