DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Political bureau member of Hamas Sami Khater said that the recent wave of Israeli attacks on holy shrines in the West Bank is an integral part of the Israeli coalition government's policy.
Khater charged the Israeli government, in an interview with the PIC on Tuesday, of trying to empty the Palestinian lands of its indigenous people.
He said that the Israeli leaders want to exploit the weak position of former PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to dictate their own conditions and to impose facts on the grounds.
He added that the reconciliation process had reached a crisis stage because as Abbas said the US administration asked him not to sign the reconciliation agreement.
Asked on Hamas's recent Arab and Islamic tour, he said that the delegates asked for bigger efforts to lift the siege on Gaza. They also exchanged views with leaders and officials of those countries and briefed them on the Palestinian people's tragedy, he added.
The Hamas leader said that the US administration intervened to foil the prisoners' exchange deal between his movement and Israel, fearing that it would negatively affect the negotiating role of Abbas.
