GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Ahmed Bahr, the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, strongly denounced the ambassador of the Fatah-controlled Palestinian authority (PA) to UNESCO Elias Sanbar for deferring a vote in favor of occupied Jerusalem.
In a press release on Sunday, Dr. Bahr condemned the step as a new crime committed by the PA against the Palestinian people and their national cause, stressing the need for holding the ambassador accountable in light of the serious Israeli violations taking place in Jerusalem.
He also said that this behavior was the latest in a string of national crimes and scandals that hit the PA, especially when it previously undermined the reports of Goldstone and Folk.
The lawmaker pointed out to information indicating that the PA ambassador is in cahoots with UNESCO director-general Irina Bokova in order to serve his own interests, adding that Sanbar must stand trial to punish him for this crime.
Arab delegates to UNESCO were also dismayed at the PA ambassador for delaying the vote on five decisions in favor of Palestine topped by one on occupied Jerusalem.
Abu Zurhi: PA no longer trusted to preserve people's interests
GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman, has lashed out the PA in Ramallah for delaying a UNESCO vote on occupied Jerusalem in its executive council meeting in Geneva.
Abu Zuhri told the PIC on Saturday that the PA was no longer trusted to preserve the Palestinian people's interests, adding that it was not content with security coordination with the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) but went down to serve IOA interests.
Arab delegates at UNESCO were dismayed at the PA representative for agreeing to delay the vote on five decisions on Palestine topped by one on occupied Jerusalem.
For his part, Palestinian political analyst Fayez Abu Shammale told the PIC on Saturday that the PA decision indicated that the Palestine cause was not in trustworthy hands.
He said that the Palestinian representative should have raised his voice out loud demanding respect to the rights of Palestinian refugees and Jerusalem especially when the vote was on the anniversary of the Nakba (catastrophe referring to the usurpation of Palestine at the hands of Zionist gangs).
Apparently Palestinian constants were no longer priorities for the PA in Ramallah, Abu Shammale opined.

GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas has condemned the PA ambassador to the UNESCO for delaying a vote on occupied Jerusalem at the organization's executive council, describing it as a "shameful conduct".
The movement in a statement on Saturday called on all Palestinian national factions to denounce and expose this "collusion".
It affirmed that Jerusalem is not a bargain to be tampered with by persons who do not represent the Palestinian people, underlining it would not recognize any resolution that would undermine the Palestinian people's right to Jerusalem and its holy shrines.
Hamas recalled that the PA representative at the UN had previously betrayed the blood of Gaza children and postponed the voting on Goldstone's report that incriminated Israel for war crimes, which only gave Israel the green light to continue its crimes.The PA representative at UNESCO Elias Sanbar had agreed to delay a vote on occupied Jerusalem at the request of its new director general so as to evade a failure at the first session for the executive council she attends.
Arab delegates were dismayed at the PA's unilateral decision that postponed voting on five decisions concerning Palestine topped by the one on Jerusalem.
