Israeli navy ordered to storm Libyan aid ship Amalthea

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The Hebrew radio reported Sunday morning that the Israeli navy is poised to storm the Libyan ship named "Amalthea" which set off from Greece to the Gaza Strip yesterday carrying 2,000 tons of food and medical supplies.

It added that the Israeli navy will follow the orders telling them to prevent the ship from reaching Gaza and use force if necessary.

Earlier, Gaddafi international charity and development foundation, which sent and funded the Moldova-flagged aid ship, categorically denied that the ship changed course towards the Arish port in Egypt.

For his part, MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, said that the Libyan ship would arrive in Gaza within three days and would not change its destination.

Khudari told a news conference on Sunday that Israel does not only try to prevent the aid ships from sailing for Gaza at the moment of their departure or after that, but it makes every effort to frustrate the preparations made to send ships from the very beginning.

He called on the world to intervene and pressure Israel into allowing the Libyan aid ship to dock at Gaza port in order to avoid what happened to the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara.
