RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Israel occupation forces (IOF) has deployed extra forces along the border with Syria and Lebanon as events marking the anniversary of the 1967 occupation of Palestine draw nearer, Haaretz reported on Monday.

The move comes to avoid a repeat of what happened as Palestinian refugees marked Nakba Day on 15 May when some 15 Arabs were shot dead by Israeli forces.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have joined a Facebook-organized campaign calling for the Naksa Day protests to mark the 1967 occupation of the rest of Palestine.

After the Nakba Day protests, pro-Palestinian activists began gearing to launch a week of peaceful protests and marches to the borders of occupied Palestine by refugees who have been denied return to their homes.

Israeli army buys anti-riot equipment ahead of Palestinian independence

NAZARETH, (PIC)-- The Israel occupation force (IOF) has purchased new equipment as it gears to deal with possible wide-ranging clashes with Palestinians in September, Israeli national news has reported.

The news network conducted a poll showing that most Israelis believe when the Palestinians declare an independent state in September, the chance will increase for more new popular uprisings.
Subsequently, the IOF has purchased “non-lethal” anti-riot equipment to cope with possible wide-spread clashes.
IOF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz toured the West Bank on Sunday to be briefed on equipment available to the army in case of September confrontations if the Palestinian Authority decides to go to the UN General Assembly and seek statehood.

The said equipment is also designed to counter “anti-Israel” initiatives expected to be launched in the future.
Gen. Gantz has instructed brigades commanders to maintain a high level of alert and expect a rise in alleged “terrorist” acts against Israeli targets.
Gantz stressed that, despite the need to re-evaluate the nature of equipment used against Nakba Day protesters in mid-May this year, the decisions made by Israeli military commanders on the ground were in fact correct.
The said equipment claimed the lives of 15 people.
