Syrian Sources: President al-Assad to address the nation within coming two days…7-member committee formed to prepare for a national conference
Damascus…

The Italian "AKI" News Agency quoted reliable Syrian sources as saying that President Bashar al-Assad is to deliver a speech within the coming two days in which he will announce the formation of a seven-member committee in charge of preparing for holding a Syrian national conference aiming to find a solution for the crisis Syria has been experiencing for the past ten weeks.

The sources said that the committee will be led by Vice President Farouk al-Sharaa, while its membership will consist of two Baath Party Regional Leadership members, two National Progressive Front members, and three independent figures.
The committee's task is to prepare for holding a hoped-for national conference to which neutral and independent figures, who don't represent any political or opposition parties, will be invited.

According to the sources, the conference is to specify the shape of the forthcoming constitutional amendments in addition to the elections law, publications law, legislative elections law and other reform laws.

Therefore, the People's Assembly's elections, which were scheduled to be held within the coming few weeks, are expected to be postponed until the national conference concludes its deliberations.

Worth mentioning is that the legislative elections draft law has been completed and published on websites for discussion.
