In a letter distributed over the Internet to some of his friends and that "al-Intiqad" website got a copy from, former Colonel in the French army Alan Corvez confirmed that "the news leaked in the past eight days regarding the arrest of 13 French officers in Syria is semi-official."
Asking "what are they (French officers) doing in this mess?" Corvez viewed that "it has become more and more clear that our soldiers are sent to defend not our interests but the interests of others i.e. US."
"Our diplomacy has become independent and destructive to our international reputation in the participating in US- Qatari interventions," he acknowledged.

The French colonel further stressed in his letter that "Bashar al-Assad is not ready to fall as he gets more and more support in his battle from both Syria itself and the Arab world."
"Arab people do not carry only Saudis and Qatari ideas mounted on the American shoulders," he added denouncing that "unfortunately this is what France wants to portray."

Corvez warned that "this case might explode in the faces of the candidates to the French presidency and thus altering the scene, even if the other candidates remained silent on the subject."

It should be noted that Colonel Alan Corves served as deputy director of the counter-espionage in France, a security adviser to the French prime minister, and an adviser to the commander of international peacekeeping forces in Lebanon.
