Iran: ‘Do barking dogs always bite?’

On July 2, Iranian lawmakers asked Ahmadinejad’s government to close the Strait of Hormuz for oil tankers heading for countries supporting USrael sanctions against the Islamic Republic. In response, the Israeli Hasbara organ, New York Times (July 3, 2012) posted a new propaganda piece saying that the US in response has quickly moved significant military reinforcements into the Persian Gulf to deter Iranian military from any possible attempt to shut the Strait of Hormuz and “to increase the number of fighter jets capable of striking deep into Iran“.

I doubt the Zionist writers are ignorant of the fact that Tehran, too, have long-range (1,200 miles) underground ballistic missile silos (see photo here) which are capable “of striking deep into Israel” and the ME countries with American military bases. Fourteen of these missiles were tested last week as part of 10-day ‘Great Prophet 6′ military drill.

Iran’s missiles have a range of up to 2,000 kilometers and have been designed for the US and the Zionist regime’s military bases in the region,” Brig. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ aerospace division was quoted as saying.
Since Netanyahu joined with the main opposition Kadima Party, headed by Tehran-born Gen. Shaul Mofaz, to form a ‘national government’ – the Zionist regime has tone-down its ‘attacking Iran alone’ rhetoric. Shaul Mofaz agrees with other top Israeli military Generals Meir Dagan, Yuval Diskin, Benny Gantz, Tamir Pardo – who are part of Israel’s 9-member ‘security forum’ – that the ‘war option’ against Iran be left to Washington as Jewish army could not fight Iran alone. He told the New York Times (April 6, 2012) that Palestinian resistance poses the real existenial threat to Israel and not Iran’s nuclear program.

Gareth Porter, an American investigative journalist and author, wrote on June 30: “Netanyahu’s strategy of using AIPAC and Congress to pressure Obama may well continue, but the pretense that Israel may attack Iran if its enrichment programme continues is likely to be quietly phased out once the US election campaign is over“.
