GAZA, (PIC)-- The Palestinian health ministry announced on Monday the death of a three-year-old child in Gaza because he could not travel abroad for medical treatment.

The ministry in a statement said that the child Maysara Mousa, who suffered from congenital heart defects, was scheduled to travel abroad for treatment but closure of the crossings denied him passage.

It said that the siege, now in its fourth year, is reaping more victims and the child Mousa was the first in 2010, warning that more victims could fall due to the shortage in many vital medications and the partial opening of Rafah crossing for patients at separate long intervals.

The ministry addressed an urgent appeal to the free people of the world to stand alongside the Gaza people and besieged patients and to pressure the Israeli occupation authority into ending its practices against Gaza.
