GAZA, (PIC)-- MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular anti siege committee, has welcomed the plan set forth by American congressman Brian Baird to break the siege on the Gaza Strip.

In a press release on Saturday, Khudari said that the democrat congressman's plan stipulated field visits by his fellow congressmen and organizing sea voyages to Gaza under UN sponsorship carrying relief and building material for reconstruction purposes.

He said that the call, the first of its kind by an American congressman, represented a qualitative change in positions and the start toward breaking the siege.

The MP hailed the daring stand of Baird, who visited Gaza several times, in criticizing his country and the world community for failure to live up to their promises on lifting the siege on Gaza and rebuilding what the war had destroyed.

Khudari called on all sympathizers with the Palestinians to support and expand this plan in a bid to add more pressure on the Israeli occupation authority to end its oppressive siege of Gaza.
