NABLUS, (PIC)-- Mahmoud Abbas’s militias kidnapped 16 Palestinian citizens affiliated with Hamas in the districts of Nablus, Al-Khalil, Qalqiliya and Bethlehem.
According to a statement issued by Hamas on Monday, Abbas’s militias kidnapped five Palestinians in Nablus, all of them were ex-detainees either in prisons of Israel or the West Bank.
In Al-Khalil city, these militias kidnapped Sheikh Abdulkarim Al-Halaiqa, the imam of Al-Shuyukh mosque, Suleiman Al-Addam, the municipal council head of Beit Ula, and Muder Guneimat, the former office director of MP Samira Al-Halaiqa.
The brother of MP Imad Nofal was reportedly detained after he was summoned for investigation by the militias in Qalqiliya in addition to six others who already spent different imprisonment terms in both Israeli and West Bank jails.
The militias also detained for the second time Adel Shawawra one week after he was released from their jails in Bethlehem. The first time he was taken as a prisoner was in January 11, 2010 after a raid on his home.
At the time, these militias tried as well to kidnap one of Adel’s brothers called Ali Shawawra who managed to escape from their grip and since then, they have been raiding the homes of this family and kidnapping its members, where more than 15 members of Al-Shawawra family were locked up in Abbas’s jails to pressure Ali to turn himself in.
Later, Ali was kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at the Container checkpoint on the road to Bethlehem and has been in administrative detention for four months.
In a related context, the IOF troops summoned former Hamas candidate Abdullah Qaaqour after a raid on his home in the village of Tarqumiya in Al-Khalil.
They also stormed the home of ex-detainee Anas Al-Hashlamoun and physically assaulted him before handing him a summons to appear at Etzion police station.
