IOF command deploys missile gunboats to intercept humanitarian Flotilla

BRUSSELS, (PIC)-- The European campaign to end the siege on Gaza asked the world community on Sunday to put an end to the Israeli threats to attack the Freedom Flotilla heading to Gaza with thousands of tons of relief materials.
The campaign, commenting on news reports that the Israeli occupation forces were deploying missile gunboats off the shores of Gaza to confront the Flotilla, said that the IOF practices were in violation of the international laws.

The Israeli claim that it had unilaterally disengaged itself from the Gaza Strip was false in light of such threats, the campaign said, adding that Israel was proving to the entire world that it was still occupying Gaza through controlling its resources and land and sea routes.

It said that any attack on those ships would violate the fourth Geneva Convention concerning human rights in addition to the international marine law.

The IOF also announced the expansion of its sea maneuvers from 21 to 68 nautical miles to further harass the Flotilla's ships.

Palestinian sources said that the IOF navy forces were using live ammunition in those maneuvers that could pose great dangers on the Freedom Flotilla.

Radwan: World silence encourages Israel to go ahead in its threats

GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Ismail Radwan, a Hamas leader, has said that the international silence towards Israel's threats against the Freedom Flotilla was encouraging it to go ahead in its practices against the fleet and to commit more crimes.

Radwan said in a press release on Sunday that the Israeli threats were outright "piracy" and were in violation of the international law and human rights.

He expressed utmost disappointment at the fact that no country had so far declared a clear stance against such Zionist piracy, which only encourages Israel to break all international laws.

The Freedom Flotilla is determined to reach Gaza and has no other option planned, Radwan underlined.

He said that Gaza would emerge victorious whether the fleet arrived or not because it would scandalize the "Zionist enemy".

Describing as "desperate" the Israeli allegation that the convoy was comprised of Hamas supporters, Radwan said that it was an attempt to "terrorize" the participants.

The activists from 40 countries including MPs, notables, and officials came to Gaza with nothing in mind except the humanitarian aspect of the trip and to end the siege and oppression against Gaza, the Hamas leader elaborated.

The Israeli allegation was nothing but an attempt to "legitimize" its expected piracy and would not deceive the world community, Radwan affirmed.

For his part, Anwar Al-Zabun, a Hamas MP in Bethlehem, said in a similar statement on Sunday that the Freedom Flotilla was meant to shake the world conscience.

He pointed out that more than 80% of the world peoples support the attempts to break the siege on Gaza and even aspire to take part in such attempts.

The Freedom Flotilla is drawing the world's attention to the tragic conditions in Gaza Strip, Zabun said, adding that those participating in the Flotilla are free people who refused the Zio-American humiliation and hegemony over the world.
