Abu Zuhri: Zaki statement reflects Egyptian bias
[ 26/06/2010 - 04:49 PM ]
GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman, said that the statement by Husam Zaki, the Egyptian foreign ministry spokesman, reflected Cairo's biased stand in favor of Fatah faction.
Cairo has clearly displayed bias in favor of Fatah faction, which explains its failure in achieving inter-Palestinian reconciliation so far, the spokesman said.
He told the PIC on Saturday that the statement that lashed out at Hamas along with the continued detention of tens of Palestinian youths in Egyptian jails put a big question mark on the Egyptian role at the current stage.
Abu Zuhri said that Hamas strongly rejected any abuse of Hamas leader Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar, in his capacity as one of the leaders of the Palestinian people and the father of two martyrs.
He said that Hamas was always keen on forging national reconciliation and showed flexibility in this matter, but it was surprised that such flexibility was met with more field and media escalation against it (on the part of Egypt).
The Egyptian foreign ministry scathingly criticized Zahhar after he told an Egyptian paper that the Palestinian reconciliation file was not being handled by the Egyptian foreign ministry, but rather by other apparatuses.
Zaki said that Zahhar does not understand the mechanism by which the Egyptian foreign ministry works.
