Thabet: Abbas's statements a prelude to transfer of Palestinians

BEIRUT, (PIC)-- The organisation for the Palestinian right of return (Thabet) which is based in Beirut, condemned statements made by the de facto PA chief Mahmoud Abbas during his meeting with the leaders of the Zionist lobby in Washington on Wednesday when he told that he will not deny the right of the Jewih people to the land of "Israel".

In a statement on Friday, Thabet said that Abbas's statements mean the denial of 7 million Palestinian refugees of their right to return to the homes they were forced out of by Zionist gangs in 1948.

The organisation further viewed such a statement as a prelude to the expulsion of the rest of the Palestinians who remained in 1948-occupied lands and who number 1.3 million Palestinians.

Thabet warned against this clear compromise made by Abbas and the squandering of the sacrifices of thousands of Palestinian people in terms of martyrs, wounded and captives in a bid to regain their rights including the right of return.

The organisation also pointed out in the statement that Abbas's statements also serve to divert the attention of the world from the horrifying massacre committed recently by the Israeli occupation against the Freedom Flotilla.

Thabet stressed that there is no such thing as the right to the so called Jewish people to the land of Palestine and that Palestine from the sea to the river is the land of the Palestinian people and anyone compromising a grain of sand of Palestine is committing high treason.
