Israeli forces place tight grip on West Bank checkpoints

[ 01/09/2010 - 01:34 PM ]

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) ramped up Wednesday morning security measures on West Bank checkpoints, especially at posts surrounding the city of Nablus, as Israeli settlers spread along the road between Nablus and Ramallah early morning.

Witnesses said that IOF troops tightened search procedures at Nablus checkpoints, stopping Palestinian vehicles and checking passengers’ identity cards.

Strict security measures at the Hawara checkpoint south of Nablus led to traffic jams, while Israeli troops re-established roadblocks at Tunaib, Bathan, and more, witnesses added.

Settlers regrouped at the Yitzhar crossroads south of Nablus near the Za'tara checkpoint to protest the killing of four Israelis last night in Al-Khalil, southern West Bank.

A group of Israelis stationed at the former location of the vacated Homesh settlement, south of Jenin in the northern West Bank, acted with depravity under police protection.
