Hamas: Netanyahu impedes Shalit’s release and misleads his family

[ 01/04/2011 - 03:22 PM ]

GAZA , (PIC)-- Hamas accused the Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of “misleading the family of Gilad Shalit,” the soldier who was captured by Palestinian resistance on 25 June 2006.

The movement added that “the real reason that hindered reaching a prisoner-exchange deal so far has been the outright rejection of successive Israeli governments, including Netanyahu’s government, to release 100 Palestinian prisoners included by the resistance on the exchange list under any conditions.”

Hamas also said in its statement that Netanyahu’s claims are not true and are an attempt by him to evade responsibility.

Netanyahu had claimed that the reason why an exchange deal was not reached is because Hamas wants 150 of its leaders to be released and to go home and that he agreed to their release them into exile in the Gaza Strip, Tunisia or Libya.
