'Russia-US Harmony' - Jeffrey Feltman: "Russia's interests will sink with the Assad-Makhlouf Titanic!"

Jeffrey Feltman: "Russia's interests will sink with the Assad-Makhlouf Titanic!"

"JEFFREY FELTMAN: We don't know for sure when the tipping point, the breaking point, will come in Syria but it will come. The demise of the Assad regime is inevitable. It is important that the tipping point for the regime be reached quickly because the longer the regime assaults the Syrian people, the greater the chances of all-out war in a failed state.
JILL COLGAN: Assistant Secretary Feltman appealed for every possible pressure on Russia and China to stop blocking action by the UN Security Council to oust the al-Assad regime.
JEFFREY FELTMAN: We think it is time for the Security Council to act. We think it is past time for the Security Council to act. This is the type of situation in Syria that deserves Security Council action so we are still in discussion with the Russians in an attempt to persuade them they can be part of a solution. They can use their influence inside Syria to be part of a solution rather than continue to block.
JILL COLGAN: He says Russia's ongoing shipments of arms to the Syrian government will only prolong a regime that should fall.
JEFFREY FELTMAN: Russia is not going to preserve those interests that Russia deems to be important if it basically rides the Assad-Makhlouf Titanic all the way to the bottom of the Mediterranean...."

Russia's Foreign Ministry: "Al-Qaeda fighting alongside armed Syrian militants!"

'Russia-US Harmony'

"Al-Qaeda combatants are fighting alongside armed Syrian opposition militants, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Alexander Lukashevich was quoted Thursday as saying by the Itar-Tass news agency.

"It is not a secret that our proposals are being rejected by the West or blocked by Syria's radical opposition, not to mention armed units fighting against governmental forces that include Al-Qaeda fighters and other extremists," he said.

Washington warned Tuesday that sending weapons to the forces fighting against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime could benefit Al-Qaeda.

"We are aware of the fact that Al-Qaeda and other extremists are seeking to take advantage of the situation created by Assad's brutal assault on the opposition," said White House spokesperson Jay Carney."

Clinton: "Zawahiri is supporting the opposition in Syria. Are we supporting al-Qaeda in Syria?"

"... Clinton also discussed why Washington was reluctant to support the Syrian opposition with weapons, warning that such a move could end up bolstering al-Qaeda and Hamas, groups the US and many other governments consider terrorist organizations.
So maybe at best, you can smuggle in automatic weapons, maybe some other weapons that you could get in. To whom, where do you go? You can’t get into Homs. Where do you go? And to whom are you delivering them? We know al-Qaeda. Zawahiri is supporting the opposition in Syria. Are we supporting al-Qaeda in Syria? Hamas is now supporting the opposition. Are we supporting Hamas in Syria?
