US to Refuel Israeli Planes in Iran Attack?

Yesterday I posted a report from Iran's Press TV regarding an apparent "volte face" the Obama administration appears to be making with regard to Iran--a volte face toward, rather than away from, war. As I commented at the time, "It looks like Obama may be about to cave to the Israel lobby and plunge us into a war with Iran."

Now we get a report from the pro-Zionist DEBKAfile, a site reputedly with ties to Israeli military intelligence, that would seem to confirm (though with some qualifications, for sure) Press TV's report about a change of direction from the Obama administration.

In a dramatic U-turn to show Israel that Washington is serious about its military option against Iran’s nuclear program, Pentagon officials disclosed Thursday, March 1, that “military options being prepared start with providing refueling for Israeli planes and include attacking the pillars of the clerical regime. They include the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and its elite Qods Force, regular Iranian military bases and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security.” (Read more )

Well what can you say? When both Press TV and DEBKA are reporting more or less the same thing, it looks like the war winds may be about to blow. Then again, maybe this is a calculated leak by someone in the Obama administration in hopes of winning goodwill from deep-pocketed Jewish donors on the eve of the AIPAC conference--where of course Obama is slated to speak. Yeah, that's possible too. However, if we judge Obama on the basis of his past behavior, he does have quite a lengthy track record of asking, "How high?" whenever Israel or AIPAC say, "Jump!"

It's worth keeping in mind also that, according to a number of previous reports ( see here, here and here for instance), attacking Iran would present Israel with a number of complex logistical challenges, perhaps not least of which would be mid-flight refueling. Thus, a comment from an anonymous Obama administration source promising assistance on this is a rather significant development.
