A car bomb has exploded in central Tel Aviv. The blast occurred alongside a bus near the Israeli Defense Ministry. At least seven people have been injured.

Most of the casualties are being treated on the spot, although several people have reportedly been taken to hospital.

The bomb was apparently detonated by a motorcyclist nearby, Haaretz reports.

The car burst into flames immediately after the blast.

Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld told AP that he believes the explosion was criminally motivated, rather than a terrorist attack.

Rescue forces are currently at the scene.

The last major blast in Tel Aviv occurred during Operation Pillar of Defense on November 21, when terrorists planted a bomb on a bus in the center of the city. Twenty-eight people were wounded.

MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW.
