Lebanese Authorities Arrest Ogero Spy

02/08/2010 Lebanese army intelligence arrested a 66-year old man identified as Milad A. on suspicion of collaborating with Israel.

Security sources told Al-Manar TV that the man worked for Lebanon's landline network "Ogero" in the international calls section, the technical department in the telecommunications ministry.

The sources added that he had reached retirement age since last year, but Ogero’s general manager Abdul Meneim Yusuf renewed his term because of his professional history in Ogero Company and the ministry.

As-Safir newspaper reported that the Lebanese army intelligence arrested the man last Thursday after tracking several phone calls he made with Israel. “The man confessed [the charges],” the daily said.

Milad is the fourth suspect to be arrested in the telecom sector. Two other employees in the state-run cell phone firm Alfa were arrested last month over similar charges. The third suspect is a former employee in Lebanon's telecommunications sector but it wasn’t obvious if he was linked to the two telecom employees arrested previously.
