Israeli troops kidnap 8 Palestinians in Al-Khalil and Surif village

AL-KHALIL, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed Al-Khalil city and the nearby village of Surif at dawn Tuesday and kidnapped eight citizens from their homes.

Local sources in Surif told the Palestinian information center (PIC) that the IOF troops kidnapped four Palestinian young men including ex-detainees in Israeli jails during raids on homes.

The sources added that the troops forced the families to go out before they wreaked havoc in the homes.

The four other citizens were also kidnapped during night raids on neighborhoods in Al-Khalil city.

In separate incidents, an Israeli military source told Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper that the IOF troops stormed different areas in the cities of Nablus, Ramallah, and Al-Khalil at dawn Wednesday and kidnapped four Palestinians before withdrawing.

Local sources reported that an Israeli military unit invaded the village of Shawawrah near Bethlehem at an early hour today and handed a citizen called Mousa Abu Al-Hoor a summons ordering him to go to the intelligence apparatus in Etzion settlement for interrogation.

For its part, the higher national committee for the support of prisoners said that Israel is still detaining seven Palestinian civilians from the Gaza Strip under the law of "unlawful combatant" which was invented to justify its detention of civilians from the Strip.

Israel started to use this unjust law after its withdrawal from Gaza in December 2005 in blatant violation of the international law because those who are described as illegal combatants are actually civilians and not resistance fighters, so they must be protected as stipulated by the fourth Geneva convention.

Those prisoners are imprisoned in Israeli jails for unlimited periods and without any charges leveled against them.
