Hamas denounces IOA’s excavations on historical Jerusalem cemetery
[ 05/08/2010 - 08:30 AM ]
DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Hamas denounced on Wednesday the excavations carried out by the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on parts of the historical Ma’manullah cemetery in Jerusalem after plans to build a museum on the site.
The Hamas media bureau commented that the attack on the Ma’manullah cemetery, which is the resting place of several key Islamic figures, is an attempt to Judaize Jerusalem by obliterating Islam’s landmarks, noting that it is a also a crime against Islamic and human civilization.
Hamas called for immediate intervention from the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, and UNESCO to stop Israel’s "sinful crime".
The movement also called on the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah to withdraw from pointless face-to-face peace talks with Israel, an act which gives a cover-up for Israeli policies against Jerusalem and Arab and Islamic heritage.
