NABLUS, (PIC)-- Extremist Jewish settlers on Friday afternoon set fire to olive groves in the village of Beit Fourik to the east of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

Local sources in Beit Fourik said that dozens of settlers arrived at the village escorted by IOF troops and started torching trees in the Burj neighbourhood which overlooks Khirbat Tana near the settlement of Itmar.

Palestinians cannot reach their fields in Khirbat Tana because of the presence of an IOF watchtower in those lands.

The sources added that the IOF troops and the settlers stopped fire engines from reaching the olive groves to extinguish the fires. Hundreds of dunums of olive and fig trees were completely burnt.
