Hamas accuses Dahlan and denies involvement of Nehru Masaud in the assassination of Mabhouh

DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Hamas firmly denied involvement of Nehru Masaud, one of its cadres, in the assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, stressing that such claims are pure Zionist fabrications and are an attempt to divert the attention from the responsibility of the Mossad for the crime.

In a statement issued by the information office of Hamas on Thursday, the movement said that claims about the involvement of Masaud as circulate in the Israeli press and parroted by some Arabic media are false and baseless.

The movement stressed that Masaud was a Hamas cadre and that he was not detained or questioned by anyone.

Meanwhile, Masaud himself told Aqsa satellite channel on Friday that rumours which originated in the Israeli press about him and which are spread by Fatah media were baseless, but were consistent with Fatah's policy of defaming Hamas and the resistance in general.

Masaud further said that the Fatah propaganda machine first said that he was detained in the UAE, then they said he was detained in Damascus, adding that he was not detained in either country.

He added that Fatah was trying cover for the fact that some former PA security officers were involved with the Mossad in this crime.

Nazzal accuses Dahlan of involvement in the assassination of Mabhouh

DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Muhammad Nazzal, member of Hamas's political bureau, accused Mohmmad Dahlan, the leader of the mutiny trend in Fatah, of being involved in the assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai last month.

In a statement to al-Jazeera.net on Thursday, Nazzal said that the two Palestinians accused of providing logistic support for the assassination team which consisted of at least 11 Mossad spies were Ahmad Hasanin, who is a former member of the Palestinian Mukhabarat (intelligence) and Anwar Shuhaiber, a former officer of the Palestinian "preventive security". Both men work in Dubai for a real estate company owned by Muhammad Dahlan.

Hasanin and Shuhaiber worked for PA security apparatuses in the Gaza Strip before Hamas took over control of the Strip in June 2006.

Nazzal explained that the two were involved in the assassination of Mabhouh and that Dahlan asked the Dubai authorities to release them, but they refused.

However, Nazzal stressed that this fact should not divert attention from the main responsibility of the Mossad for the assassination.

He asked the Dubai police to name the two Palestinians they captured and the show how they were involved as they have named and published photos of the other suspects.
