Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights McMaster (SPHR) would like to cordially invite you to "Heart Beat of Our Land", a night of dinner and entertainment to celebrate Palestinian culture. SPHR is a non-profit, secular, and student-run organization that advocates on a strong social justice platform to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people in the face of human rights violations and all forms of racism, discrimination, misinformation and misrepresentation. As another Israeli Apartheid Week in Hamilton has come to an end, we at SPHR would like to show the community another side to Palestine. One often forgets that amidst the death and destruction that has plagued Palestine since 1948, there exists a vibrant, rich and diverse culture - one that we hope to share with you.
Join us, Thursday April 1st 2010 (the day before Good Friday) at Olympia Banquet Hall in Hamilton, for a night of food, live music, artwork, poetry, traditional Palestinian dance, and much more. Doors will be opening at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $37 and can be purchased at Compass (McMaster University Student Centre), placed on reserve through email at sphr@mcmaster.
This night is also being sponsored by Islamic Relief Canada, a non-governmental organization that has provided humanitarian assistance in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip since 1994 and 1998, respectively. Most recently, Islamic Relief Canada played an integral role in providing emergence assistance to the Gaza Strip during the massacre that took place last winter.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Details can also be found at the Facebook event listing here: http://www.facebook
Thanks,
SPHR - McMaster
