Sleiman Urges Lebanese to Keep Calm; Geagea Objects - SAYYED NASRALLAH TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE THURSDAY AT 20:30 (17:30 GMT)

It's the tribunal, the "talk of the town" in Lebanon these days, the stage's headline that would set all priorities…

It's the tribunal, the source of the country's "disputes" alongside the beginning of the "countdown" of the "historical verdict."

The "disputes" started following the latest speech made by Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah who warned of the "plot" prepared to the Resistance and Lebanon.

Hezbollah Secretary General highlighted the dangers surrounding the country. Yet, the Lebanese, instead of showing unity to face the upcoming challenges, engaged in another fight under the slogans of truth and justice.

Sayyed Nasrallah raised the voice and pointed to the upcoming dangers. His eminence will proceed with this tactic in his next speeches, the first to be made on Sunday before celebrating the anniversary of the Divine Victory on July 30.

According to Lebanese daily As-Safir, Sayyed Nasrallah is preparing for a "surprise" and therefore, his next speeches would be stronger, clearer, deeper and wider.

In the meantime, President Michel Sleiman, who felt the dangers surrounding the country, decided to launch an initiative to maintain calm in the country and prevent tensions.

After receiving on Wednesday Prime Minister Saad Hariri, the head of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc MP Michel Aoun, the head of the Future parliamentary bloc MP Fouad Saniora and the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Mohamad Raad, Sleiman received on Thursday the head of the Marada movement MP Sleiman Franjieh, the head of the Phalange party Amin Gemayel and Labor Minister Butros Harb.

Discussions are focusing on keeping political and security calm by pacifying political speech, the National News Agency said. Sleiman is also urging the officials to adopt calm political rhetoric to keep stability during the tourism season, NNA added.

But before President Michel Sleiman concludes his peaceful consultations, Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea had another opinion or perhaps, his own objection when he chose to launch verbal assaults against political rivals in the middle of President Sleiman's initiative.

In a TV interview, Geagea held MP Michel Aoun "responsible for any acts of violence that may be waged against any Christian area," following As-Safir newspaper's report that Aoun had advised Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah to change the rules of the game. "Why weren't the rules of the game changed in the 2009 parliamentary elections? This means that Aoun is asking Sayyed Nasrallah to use force to change the rules of the game," Geagea deduced.

The Lebanese Forces chief claimed that during the last five days, the other camp has given the impression that it has taken a decision to overthrow the democratic game in order to reach its objectives.

"The other camp wants to corner PM Saad Hariri and force him to renounce the Special Tribunal for Lebanon," Geagea noted.
