On the occasion of Holy Prophet Mohammad's [PBUH]
birth anniversary and the Week of the Islamic Unity, Hizbullah held Friday a
central ceremony in Sayyed Al-Shuhada complex in Dahiya [Southern suburbs of
Beirut].
In the crowded ceremony, the Secretary General of Hizbullah, His
Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech in which he tackled various
regional and internal issues.
Sayyed Nasrallah congratulated the Muslim
World on the Prophet and His grandson Imam Sadeq's birth anniversary as well as
on the Week of the Islamic Unity.
Our
Prophet: Humanity's Model, Not to Accept Insult
On the
ceremony, Sayyed Nasrallah mentioned some of the Holy Prophet's perfect merits,
which were admitted by his friends and foes. In this context, His Eminence
noted that the Holy Prophet's enemies found no faults in this model
personality.
"Of the most important aspects that must be recalled today is that the
Messenger of God, the Prophet of Islam, restored humanity to its first humane
foundation. He even leveled its humanitarian aspect," His Eminence
confirmed.
He further reiterated that this "great humane Prophet came to
address people by the message: ‘We're all from Adam, and Adam is from
soil'." "He came to tell people that "all people are equal, whether male or
female, Arabs or Persians, black or white," the Hizbullah top official
stated.
In parallel, Sayyed Nasrallah slammed the "unfortunate deliberate
campaign to malign the Prophet, attack his religion, and undermine his
humanitarian call." In face of some books, movies and abuses against our
religion and Prophet, he called "for open debate and dialogue," stressing that
"we can't accept any abuse and insult."
"We must certainly express our
anger," His Eminence stressed, and noted that "it is our responsibility to
constructively inform the world of this great Prophet: His features, religion,
message, and words."
Regional Developments
Political, Not Sectarian
On the regional level, Hizbullah
Secretary General refused the claim that "what's happening in the Arab region is
merely a sectarian conflict."
"The disaster," is according to Sayyed
Nasrallah, "failing to deal with the crises that erupt and we must shoulder the
responsibility concerning the current events." He also highlighted that
"political objectives that have to do with power and domination were behind all
the conflicts and wars that happened, which had nothing to do with religion or
with Sunnis and Shiites."
"We should try to approach this from the fact that
Lebanon is part of this region, and we might be the most affected by the events
taking place in the regional surrounding," His Eminence
explained.
Meanwhile, he affirmed that "many current conflicts, our
region is facing, are political and have nothing to do with religions or with
Islam and Christianity or Sunnis and Shiites." In this context, Sayyed
Nasrallah gave the example of the Gulf War, which is considered one of the most
dangerous wars that happened in our region.
"It wasn't a religious war, but
rather a war for power and control over oil," he asserted, and added that
"Saddam Hussein's wars on Iran and Kuwait were of neither religious nor
sectarian backgrounds since most of the Iraqi soldiers were Shiites."
He
also urged all sides to keep any conflict away from sectarian incitement.
"We should look for compromises, dialogue, and solutions rather than
destructive clashes and that's what we urge in Syria and Lebanon, Yemen and
Egypt," Sayyed Nasrallah iterated.
Moreover, he underscored that "we must
be cautious and any sectarian rhetoric is a malicious rhetoric that destroys
everything." "Some current Arab regimes do not care about the Palestinian
people or the Sunni communities as they own hundreds of billions of amassed
money, but when they engage in a conflict with Iran, they turn it into a
Shiite-Sunni conflict," the resistance Leader mentioned.
"Israel" Suffering Confidence
Crisis Moving to the Zionist entity's recent elections,
His Eminence highlighted that "the founding parties of the entity, such as Labor
and Likud, are weakening, amid the absence of a strong party and central
leaderships."
"Everyone knows the serious trust issue in "Israeli" regarding
["Israeli" PM Benjamin] Netanyahu, but they elected him because they had no
other choice," Sayyed Nasrallah iterated, and pointed out that "This election
also witnessed steadiness in the influence of extremist religious parties and
this complicates political administration and there is a crisis of confidence in
the "Israeli" entity."
Moreover, he warned from betting on any "Israeli"
party "because "Israel's" left and right parties are the same when it comes to
Arab rights as well as the "Israeli" ambitions and threats against the people of
the region." To him, ""Israel's" greediness will not change and we must not
wager on any of them."
Sayyed Nasrallah further noted that "the only
guarantee to Palestine is its resistance, and the only guarantee to Lebanon is
the tripartite equation of the ‘people, army, and resistance'."
"The most
important response to the "Israeli" elections is the call for further adherence
to the resistance and further cooperation to keep the resistance strong in
Palestine and Lebanon," he stressed.
With any
Proportional Law On the Lebanese front, His Eminence
reiterated that "the Lebanese national unity is what preserves Lebanon in face
of "Israel's" greed and aggressions."
"Today, the main debate in Lebanon is
the Parliamentary elections and electoral law," Hizbullah Secretary General
viewed, and noted that "respectful discussion is absent from the Lebanon
political scene, and insults are rather prevailing."
Confirming that the
election's issue is sensitive, particularly in this period, His Eminence stated
that "all Lebanese sects and parties are approaching the electoral law in a
sensitive manner due to the current sharp divisions and the effects of the
regional developments."
"When Lebanese Christians see what's happening in
Iraq, Nigeria, Syria and other places, they are justified in their concerns on
the issue of a new electoral law to govern the coming elections," His Eminence
said, and mentioned that "the regional developments complicated the
scene." In parallel, Sayyed Nasrallah called for addressing all Lebanese
concerns and refraining from accusations.
Commenting on some sides' claims
that the Orthodox electoral proposal is Hizbullah's one, he considered that
"such approach is very malicious and carries insults to Bkirki and the
Christians."
In this context, His Eminence clearly declared the party's
position from electoral proposals: "We had our reservations on the Orthodox
proposal in the beginning until our allies explained it. We would vote for the
government's draft law, Lebanon as a single district or the Orthodox Gathering
if any of these proposals are put to a vote in Parliament."
As he
mentioned that there exists several options and proposals, Sayyed Nasrallah
called for approaching this issue in a scientific manner.
"The main electoral
system we seek is the proportional representation. Proportional representation
is the only proposal that ensures everyone is represented in parliament," the
party's top official elaborated.
Sayyed Nasrallah also responded to March 14
claims that the problem of adopting proportionality is related to the resistance
weapons.
"The Resistance existed during the 1996 elections and weapons have never been used to impose electoral choices," he stated, and wondered, "Is the resistance going to use Zizal missile or Fajir 5 rocket to impose its electoral choice on a certain Lebanese village."
His Eminence asked: "What's more
dangerous money or arms? Which has the greater impact in the elections? What is
more dangerous: misleading and unfair media or weapons?"
"If weapons are
to influence the elections, its influence under a winner-takes-all system is
greater than their influence under a proportional representation law," he
stressed, underlining that "remarks about weapons are incorrect."
According
to the resistance leader, "Their problem with proportionality is that it gives
every side its real size especially that these people believe that their only
guarantee lies in having a larger size than they really have."
He further
asked the Lebanese to agree "on a fair electoral law and go to elections, and
forget all about Syria's developments, particularly those who betted on the fall
of Damascus or on a dramatic development in Syria."
"All the military,
regional and international developments indicate that the dreams of many parties
will not come true," His Eminence assured.
On another level, Sayyed
Nasrallah urged the government not to ignore Lebanese livelihood issues: the
teachers, professors, refugees and the Islamist prisoners. "Some of the
Islamist detainees have been jailed for 4 or 5 years without trial. This is
unfair, regardless of our position from them," His Eminence concluded. |
