OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported Monday that the right-wing Israeli government intends to enact a law proposed by a ministerial committee banning Palestinians living in 1948 occupied lands from commemorating the Nakba day.

The newspaper justified this step by saying it is a defense of Israel’s existence.

The draft law, that will be voted on by the Israeli Knesset this week, stipulates that everyone commemorating this occasion will be imprisoned for three years.

Israeli ministers considered the law the first step on the road to stop the incitement campaigns led by the Islamic Movement and the higher follow-up committee for 1948 Arabs, adding that the approval of this law means the end of the happy events held by head of the Islamic Movement sheikh Ra’ed Salah and other Palestinian activists.

For his part, Arab Knesset member Jamal Zahalka said that this law is insane suggested by a lunatic government, noting that the 1948 Arabs in one way or another would manage to find a way to mark their Nakba day.
