Israel Calls for Sayyed Nasrallah’s Arrest over Hariri Assassination!

Lo & behold, AL Seyassah published the Spiegel story ... simultaneously

Spiegel: 'jealousy led to Hariri's death'
That brings back memories y... With the assistance of blogger/reader "b", we are reminded that al seyassah in February 2005, and based on the same leaks of the day, was peddling the 'Syria did it" within hours of the assassination. Today, it shares the Spiegel leak "correction"that it was not the Syrians who did it but the convenient bete noire of the day, Hezbollah. Here.

Israel Calls for Sayyed Nasrallah’s Arrest over Hariri Assassination!

24/05/2009 Israel has sounded alarm over “Hezbollah’s control of Lebanon” and it hoped Lebanese citizens will draw the required conclusions ahead of the upcoming parliament elections and they called for the arrest of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah over the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri!

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu expressed concern during his talks in Washington last week that Hezbollah could gain considerable strength in the upcoming Lebanese parliamentary elections scheduled on June 7 and possibly put together what he called “a Shiite bloc” that would control the country.

According to government sources, Netanyahu described Hezbollah control of Lebanon as a "dangerous" and "worrisome" possibility that needs to considered very seriously. This is a scenario that Netanyahu has been warning about in private meetings in recent weeks.

US Vice President Joe Biden went to Lebanon on Friday to reinforce US support for the loyalty bloc (March 14) ahead of the elections.

Biden is the highest-ranking US official to visit Lebanon in more than 25 years, and the second from the Obama administration in about a month, following in the footsteps of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The attention underscores Washington's concerns about a possible win by the Lebanese national opposition, including Hezbollah.

The White House said Biden's visit was meant "to reinforce the United States' support for an independent and sovereign Lebanon."

Hezbollah, along with other opposition parties, have accused the US of interfering in the election in favor of pro-Western factions. Hezbollah said Friday that the visits by Biden and Clinton raised "strong suspicion and amounted to a clear and detailed interference in Lebanon's affairs."

Biden flew into Beirut airport from Kosovo, closing a three-day tour of the southeastern European region that also took him to Bosnia and Serbia.

Lebanese military helicopters hovered over the Lebanese capital to provide security as a motorcade of about dozen vehicles sped through the city center on its way to the presidential palace in the suburban hills of Baabda.

The situation in Lebanon is expected to be a major item on the agenda when Netanyahu travels to France in the beginning of June for talks with President Nicolas Sarkozy. Although no date for the visit has been set, there is some talk of it occurring on June 3 or 4, which would place Netanyahu in Paris when US President Barack Obama gives his much-touted address to the Arab world in Cairo. From the Egyptian capital, Obama is scheduled to go to France for D-Day commemorations.

“LEBANON MUST DRAW CONCLUSIONS AGAINST HEZBOLLAH”

Addressing the allegations by German magazine Der Spiegel that the Hezbollah organization was behind the assassination of Hariri, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said that "an international arrest warrant should be issued against (Sayyed Hasan) Nasrallah, and he should be prosecuted. Otherwise, he should be arrested forcibly."

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Sunday morning that he "hopes Lebanon's citizens will draw the required conclusions" ahead of the upcoming parliament elections.

According to Barak, "the international tribunal's decision to apparently view Hezbollah as responsible for the murder of the former Lebanese prime minister testifies once against to the character and role of Hezbollah, not only in the battle against us but also in the battle against Lebanon's normalcy."

in beirut it is not working with us. don't get me wrong, we hate the earth on which hizballah walks on but we know that it is not they who killed rafik hariri. if this is an american manipulation to let the syrians walk free then we can say that we were not wrong about the obama adminstration, even if we don't say it out loud."

Syrian President Bashar Assad with his wife Asma: Although the Syrian government is not being declared free of the suspicion of involvement, at least President Assad is no longer in the line of fire. There is hardly anything to indicate he was aware of the murder plot.
