ISTANBUL, (PIC)-- Turkish premier Recep Erdogan strongly denounced Saturday the western countries and the UN for their double standards when dealing with different issues, warning that there would be no peace in the region while the Gaza Strip is under siege.

In his speech before the US-Islamic world forum, Erdogan expressed his dismay at the western countries for their passivity during the Israeli war on Gaza despite the brutality of the crimes committed against civilians.

“Is this justice? How can there be world peace while Gaza is under blockade, although it is important just like Georgia?! We must now evaluate these things or else we will face big problems,” the premier highlighted.

"If Humanity which rises against the hunting of seals, sees the murder of children with phosphorus bombs as collateral damage in the fight against terrorism, in an effort to comfort its conscience, then sense of justice will be hurt beyond cure," he added.

He also emphasized that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict can be resolved through the establishment of a real independent Palestinian state with a strong economy, the removal of settlements and ending the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza immediately.

In the same context, MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, on Saturday hailed the remarks made by Erdogan in support of the Palestinian rights and Gaza people during the forum.

In a press release, Khudari stressed that Erdogan’s brave stands confirmed Turkey’s unlimited support for the Palestinian people and cause, adding such stands boost the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and make them feel that there is still some kind of international solidarity with them.
