GAZA, (PIC)-- The Palestinian government headed by premier Ismail Haneyya issued on Wednesday its semiannual report on the achievements it has made since the beginning of this year at many levels, especially in the fields of security, economy and education.

The general secretariat of the cabinet stated in its report how the government successfully managed the difficult situation in the Gaza Strip despite the suffocating Israeli blockade.

The report contained the most important achievements the government has made in the area of security, including the remarkable decline in crime rate resulting from the strong performance of the Palestinian security forces and the judicial system in Gaza.

In the first half of this year, according to the report, 78.2 percent of theft crimes were discovered and more than 10,867 cases were addressed by courts as the government decided to form the high judicial council to promote justice and transparency.

Among the steps taken to enhance the economic situation in Gaza was that the government referred a draft law on confiscating corrupt money, worked on streamlining the public expenditure, and managed efficiently the salaries of civil servants and unemployment compensation.

As for education, the government approved plans to build a complex of schools in Rafah city and rehabilitate 26 schools, three of them will be fully restored; it also opened six science laboratories in different Gaza areas and distributed 3,755 school bags to the students most in need.

The government also decided to grant two awards in the fields of science, literature and arts.

Many projects and plans were approved by the government for the support of prisoners, fishermen, farmers, and poor families during the reporting period.
