PCHR speaks against PA militia political arrests
[ 16/09/2010 - 11:07 AM ]
RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Palestinian Center for Human Rights condemned the latest PA security militia’s arrest campaign against Hamas supporters in the West Bank in the wake of Al-Khalil operation carried out by Hamas affiliates.
The center in a statement Wednesday demanded the immediate release of all political prisoners, arguing that the Palestinian supreme court outlawed political detention on Feb. 20, 1999.
An investigation by the PCHR revealed that 60 Palestinians were arrested over the last three days after PA security services resumed an arrest campaign against Hamas affiliates in Al-Khalil the night of Eid al-Fitr.
Most of those taken in recent campaigns since the end of July have been denied family and lawyer visits and have been poorly treated.
