Israeli air raid destroys soap factory in southern Gaza

Second Israeli Strike Hits Gaza in 24 Hours

16/09/2010 An agricultural tools warehouse and an open area in the Rafah tunnels district were the sites of two airstrikes by the Israeli occupation army on Gaza Thursday morning, witnesses said.

An Israeli military statement on the strikes claimed the targets were "two weapons storage facilities in the northern and southern Gaza Strip" and added that the "attack is in response to the nine projectiles fired into Israeli territory over the last 24 hours."

The Israeli strike was the second in less than 12 hours on the Strip, with a strike on Wednesday afternoon on a tunnels area in Rafah killing one tunnels worker and injuring two others.

According to Palestinian military medical services spokesman Adham Abu Salmya, the latest strikes resulted in no injuries.

The Israeli military, in its statement on the airstrike, said 14 projectiles had been fired from the start of the week. One strike has been claimed by factions in Gaza, but that report was denied by Israeli military officials.

In its statement, the Israeli military said it "holds Hamas solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip."

ISRAEL DEMOLISHES FOUR PALESTINIAN HOMES IN NEGEV
Meanwhile, Israeli occupation authorities razed four Palestinian homes on Wednesday in the Negev villages of Fara'a, Tel Arad, Bani Yacaba and Al-Sayyad.

They noted that large numbers of Israeli policemen and special security men escorted the municipal teams and blocked entry into the targeted homes before leveling them.

The bulldozers turned those homes into rubble rendering the women and children homeless in the open, the sources said.

Sheikh Ali Abu Qarn, leader of the Islamic movement in the Negev, described the Israeli step in a press release as a "rabid campaign" targets Arab presence in the Negev.

KHAN YOUNIS, (PIC)-- Israeli air raids at dawn Thursday blasted a soap factory in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, and deserted land causing severe material damage to the factory.

Local sources told the PIC reporter that an Israeli F-16 fired a missile at the soap and detergents factory owned by Ayman Darwish to the northwest of Khan Younis causing material damage but no casualties were reported.

The Israeli warplanes launched another raid later on firing two missiles at a deserted patch of land near to a position for the Qassam Brigades the armed wing of Hamas northwest of Rafah with no casualties reported.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) reinforced their presence along the borders with Gaza in the wake of the military escalation against the Strip over the past few days that killed four Palestinians since Sunday including a 91-year-old shepherd.

The Israeli TV 2 channel reported last night that the IOF soldiers were redeploying in anticipation of any "emergency".

A Likud minister in the Israeli coalition government threatened to wage a large-scale offensive against the Strip in the event rockets continued to be fired from it on Israeli targets.
