UN PUPPET: Hezbollah’s Military Strength Poses ‘Threat’ to Lebanon - He meant to Israel

Hezbollah Denounces Ban's Report on 1559 as Meddling in Lebanese Affairs
20/10/2010 Hezbollah on Wednesday slammed the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon's report on Resolution 1559, saying the report has meddled in the Lebanese internal affairs and politically interfered in the Special Tribunal or Lebanon (STL) affairs.

In a statement Issued by Hezbollah media relations, the party said: "Hezbollah considers UN Secretary General report issued regarding UN resolution 1559, that was written by the "employee" of the Zionist entity Terry Roed Larsen as meddling in Lebanese internal affairs as well as political interference in the affairs of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon."

"It seems that [Ban] did not realize that Hezbollah has been at the core of Lebanese politics, through its representation in the parliament and cabinet," the statement said.

In his report, Ban said that Lebanon has been hit by a "new climate of uncertainty" that could cause instability across the region, adding that Hezbollah's strength “creates an atmosphere of intimidation and poses a key challenge to the safety of Lebanese civilians and to the government.”

"Ban has forgotten that President [Michel Sleiman] stated [last month] at the UN that Lebanon has the right to use all means to liberate its territory," the statement added.

Hezbollah also asked Ban about his stance on many of the issues that have recently occurred in the region.
"For instance what is his stance on the "freedom flotilla" and the Zionist crime against international laws and civilian passengers of the ship that was raided in the international waters?"

The party also asked about Ban's stance on many crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinians, stressing that the international organization is losing its credibility in the world.

Ban: Hezbollah’s Military Strength Poses ‘Threat’ to Lebanon

19/10/2010 UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon warned in his 12th semi-annual report on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1559 that Lebanon has been hit by a new climate of "uncertainty" that could cause new instability across the region.

The UN chief called on regional powers to “stay out” of the country's affairs and also said Israel must halt military over flights.

"I am very concerned by rising political tensions in the country," Ban said. "The combination of mistrust between the parties and the continued presence of militias could lead to tensions and possible insecurity and instability in Lebanon and beyond."The country should not be used as a staging ground to further regional aspirations or to promote conflict," he said.

The UN chief also highlighted Palestinian armed groups operating in Lebanon. He said all the “militias” remain "a challenge" to the Lebanese state.

Ban touched down on Hezbollah and called for the resistance, which is defending the country from the continuing Israeli threats, to follow the example of other “militias” and disarm.

Hezbollah’s arsenal "remains distinct from and may exceed the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces," according to the report.

Ban said Hezbollah’s military strength "creates an atmosphere of intimidation and poses a key challenge to the safety of Lebanese civilians and to the government's monopoly on the legitimate use of force."

ISRAEL’S UNSTOPPABLE VIOLATIONS, UN MUM

The Lebanese Army said Monday that the Israeli air force has violated Lebanon's sovereignty by sending two aircraft over the country's airspace at 13:35 local time, entering from the southern village of Rumaish.

The aircraft flew over the areas of Iklim al-Kharoub, Baabda, Jouniyeh, and Beirut before leaving at 20:15 over the village of Naqoura.

The over flights contravene United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which obliges Israel to keep out of Lebanon's airspace.

However, Israel defies all international resolutions and carries out airspace violations on an almost daily basis, claiming they serve surveillance purposes.

According to evidence submitted to the UN by the Lebanese government, Israel has breached the provisions of the resolution on more than 7,000 occasions by violating Lebanon's airspace, territorial waters, and border.

US SATISFIED
US Alternate Representative for Special Political Affairs to the UN Brooke Anderson said that her country supports Ban Ki-moon’s report on the implementation of Resolution 1559, adding that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) must pursue its probe without outside interference, Al-Liwaa newspaper reported.

Anderson said that “Washington is strongly committed to the sovereignty and independence of Lebanon as well as the full implementation of UN Security Council resolutions 1559, 1680 and 1701.”

She added that the US is “worried about attempts by foreign actors to threaten Lebanon’s stability and interfere in its domestic affairs.” “The ongoing arms supply from Syria to Hezbollah is one of the irrational practices that can lead to conflicts in the [Middle East],” Anderson said.
