Jewish edict prohibits renting houses in Safad to Palestinians

NAZARETH, (PIC)-- Jewish rabbis in the city of Safad, north of Palestine occupied in 1948, have issued an edict prohibiting renting houses to Arabs (non-Jews) in the city.

The edict said that anyone renting a house or a shop to Arabs should be boycotted, claiming that the Arabs live in a different way than Jews and "they hate us and might attack us".

The rabbis said they opposed giving shelter to Arabs, adding, "Let us preserve the holy city of Safad clean of them".

Palestinians in 1948 occupied Palestine said that the "racist edict" followed an upsurge in Arab trend to reside in Safad especially after the opening of a number of higher institutes and the government's plan to open a college for medicine in it.

Racist Jews have attacked residences of Arab students in the city and caused material damage to them.
