Barhoum: Moeller in office proves the U.S., Fatah serve Israeli interests

GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said Michael Moeller’s presence in the West Bank confirms that a multinational authority is controlling the West Bank.

Michael Moeller took office on Thursday as the new U.S. security coordinator for the Fatah Authority. His task is primarily to train PA security forces to suppress resistance factions.

Moeller was the director of strategic leadership and planning in the U.S. Central Command.

Ranking major general, he is an exceptional military commander with a variety of skills, holding several military decorations over his achievements.

Barhoum said in an exclusive statement to the PIC that Moeller coming to office proves that the U.S. is keen on maintaining Israeli security and has no interest in the people of Palestine and their security.

“America by its actions and intervention contributes to strengthening [Israel] and breaking the Palestinian people for the sake of its own interests,” Barhoum said.

“It’s clear that [the U.S.] is taking on security tasks designed to hunt down resistance [factions in Palestine],” he added.

He said that the Fatah authority’s welcome of U.S. involvement confirms its political and financial dependence on the U.S., adding that they have begun to be fully dragged by U.S. and Israeli foreign agendas.

“The Fatah Authority in the [West] Bank [has seized] the Palestinian decision, which opposes American intervention in its entirety.”

“Moeller’s presence proves [that Fatah] does not have power to make decisions, and confirms that it is an authority that does not serve the interest of our people, but only is, in cooperation with America and [Israel], serving their (Israel and USA) interests at the expense of unity, freedom, and the rights of Palestinians.”

Prof. Abdel Sattar Qassem, a professor of political science at the Najah University in Gaza, said the new U.S security coordinator Michael Moeller is an “American devil” sent to perpetuate U.S. hegemony over Arab lands.

The professor said in a statement exclusive to the PIC that Moeller has heavy experience in leading security and military forces over the previous period.

“He has extensively studied the situation in Palestine and the security agreements between the Palestinians and the Israelis, and has therefore come to oversee the security of [Israel],” said Qassem.

The political analyst explained that Moeller is not at all welcomed by the Palestinians.

“He is one of the devils sent by the United States to our Arab lands - particularly Palestine - to perpetuate its hegemony and ensure Arab dependence on the [U.S and Israel],” he went on to say.

WEST BANK, (PIC)-- U.S. military chief in the West Bank Keith Dayton has handed over the task of training Palestinian Authority security forces to his successor Gen. Michael Moeller, several sources confirmed on Monday.

The new U.S. chief of the West Bank Moeller last Friday took his new role as a U.S. security coordinator in the region. His primary task is to train PA security militia to maintain Israeli security and suppress Palestinian resistance factions in coordination with the Israeli army.

Israeli military sources said Dayton left the West Bank for the United States last Thursday after a five-year stay in the region.

The sources noted that Gen. Michael Moeller took office on Friday. He was a B52 pilot in the U.S. Air Force and was responsible for strategic planning at CENTCOM, the U.S. military's Central Command. He speaks Arabic and Spanish.
