GAZA, (PIC)-- The Palestinian citizens stranded abroad appealed to the ruling military council in Egypt to issue directives to facilitate their return to the Gaza Strip.
Thousands of Palestinian passengers who are stuck at international airports and unable to travel back to Cairo airport made their appeal in a letter addressed to the commander in chief of the Egyptian armed forces Mohamed Tantawi.
"We, your sons and brothers, are stranded in Arab and Islamic countries and among us are patients, persons with special needs who have been wounded by the Israeli occupation's bullets and shells, and students who had to get separated from their families," the letter read.
The passengers noted that they are living in very difficult psychological and financial conditions without having enough money.
Many Palestinians are stranded at airports of other countries and not allowed to leave for Egypt because there are instructions banning them from entering Cairo airport.
RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Thousands of Gazans have been stranded abroad for over a month during changes in Egypt that have hindered their entry into the Cairo International Airport, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) has said.
Palestinians returning to the Gaza Strip must transit Egypt before crossing over to the strip through Rafah.
”Since the outbreak of the Egyptian revolution Palestinians have been denied entry to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Rafah land crossing was closed 30 January 2011 in both directions,” the rights center said in a statement on Sunday.
The border crossing was later reopened for commuters entering the Gaza Strip on 17 February and then in both directions on 22 February, allowing hundreds of Palestinians to travel and return.
