Israeli court extends detention of Sheikh Salah

[ 28/02/2011 - 07:07 PM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The Israeli Magistrate court on Monday extended the detention of Sheikh Ra'ed Salah, the leader of the Islamic movement in 1948 occupied Palestine, till Wednesday.

One of the Sheikh's lawyers charged that the prosecution charges were contradictory, adding that the arrest was 15 days after the alleged incident occurred.

He said that absence of material evidence and witnesses prove that the accusation against the Sheikh of starting fire in Negev groves was sheer fabrication.

The Israeli authorities arrested Sheikh Salah on 22/2/2011 after claiming that he burnt groves in the Araqib village in the Negev, which was razed by the Israeli authorities 20 times. The Israeli prosecution claimed that Sheikh Salah started the fire on 7/2/2011, a claim that was ridiculed by those attending the hearing.
