Al-KHALIL, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Wednesday evening kidnapped once again Hamas lawmaker Azzam Salhab at a military checkpoint near Jericho city.

An aid to MP Salhab told the Palestinian information center (PIC) that the IOF erected abruptly barriers near Khan Al-Ahmar area, located between Jericho and Ramallah, and stopped the lawmaker's car upon his return to Al-Khalil city from a funeral he attended north of the West Bank.

He added that the troops held MP Salhab for more than one hour, checked his ID and then took him to Etzion interrogation and detention center north of Al-Khalil.

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) released MP Salhab last time in September 2010 after he was administratively detained for 18 months. The number of Hamas lawmakers imprisoned in Israeli jails rose to nine after his detention.

Zionist occupation forces arrested, on Wednesday evening (2-3), the deputy in the Legislative Council for the province of Hebron Dr. Azzam Salhab (54 years) at a military checkpoint near the city of Jericho, the central West Bank.

In a press release on Wednesday, Hamas lawmakers in the West Bank said that the detention of MP Salhab confirmed further that the IOA is determined to disrupt the parliamentary life, especially after a number of MPs from the Movement were kidnapped lately.

They stressed that this Israeli policy would not succeed in taking the Palestinian lawmakers away from their people or undermining the popular rallying around them, but it would make them more determined to assume their parliamentary obligations.
They also urged the international community to move to stop Israel's persistent violation of the Palestinian lawmakers' immunity.
