GAZA, (PIC)-- The Popular Resistance Committees and its armed wing have called on the new Egyptian government led by Essam Sharaf to immediately lift the "strangling" siege on the Gaza Strip.

The PRC called in a statement on Saturday for completely opening the Rafah border terminal between Egypt and Gaza, and facilitating movement of passengers round the clock.

The statement also called for cancelling all restrictions on Palestinians' travel in and out of the Strip, adding that the travel ban on certain Palestinians under trivial security pretexts should come to an end in addition to allowing all Palestinians abroad to return to the Strip.
