Al-Shara, Meshaal review latest developments, Palestinian reconciliation
DAMASCUS- Vice President Farouk al-Shara on Wednesday reviewed with Head of Hamas Politburo Khaled Meshaal the latest developments in the Palestinian arena.
Meshaal briefed al-Shara on all aspects of the reconciliation agreement recently signed between the two Palestinian movements Hamas and Fatah in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The talks dealt with the symbolic importance of the Palestinian popular rallies on different fronts with the Zionist entity on al-Nakba Day and the positive political impact they left in the Palestinian and Arab arenas in terms of rekindling hope of Palestinian refugees of returning home.
Meshaal said in a press statement that his meeting with the Syrian Vice-President comes in the framework of communication with the Syrian leadership and keeping it up with the developments of the Palestinian situation.
"The meeting also aims at continuing consultation with the Syrian leadership in everything that may serve the Palestinian and Arab interests," added Meshaal.
He referred to the Palestinian reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah as an important step towards ending division and strengthening the internal front in the confrontation against the Zionist enemy.
"This important progress coincides with the Nakba anniversary which was marked by the sweeping movement of the Palestinian displaced and refugees towards Palestine from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt, as well as from inside Gaza, the West Bank and the 1948 territories to bring back life to the Palestinian cause and give message to the west and east that it is still the central cause regardless of any details," said Meshaal.
He stressed that the Palestinian cause is a cause of liberation, self-determination and full restoration of the rights.
