NABLUS, (PIC)-- Khalil Assaf, the representative of the "gathering of the independent personalities" in the West Bank said Thursday that the PA security forces haven’t received any orders from the political echelon to stop political arrests in the West Bank.

In a statement he issued Thursday in this regard Assaf pointed out that his group was continuously trying to pave the way for the implementation of the national reconciliation agreement signed by all Palestinian factions in Cairo a couple of weeks ago on the ground, urging Hamas and Fatah to immediately implement the agreement in order to assure the Palestinian public.

He also explained that he intervened to solve a number of problems that resulted after the PA security apparatuses summoned and arrested a number of Palestinian citizens in the West Bank, adding that he urged the PA security apparatuses to stop such policies to give a chance for the national reconciliation to succeed.

But he revealed that the PA security apparatuses in the West Bank informed him that "they were part of a security institution that has no relation with any Palestinian faction and that it hasn’t received any orders from the political level to stop such policy".

Thousands of Palestinian families in the West Bank hailed the signing of the national reconciliation agreement that stipulates the immediate release of all political detainees from the PA jails in the West Bank, but wishes of those families of having their sons released from jail still unfulfilled.
